With Moongates Guardian, you always know what you're gonna get, which is atmospheric black metal with dungeon synth elements, directly influenced by Summoning. Therefore, what varies on each album is the quality of songwriting. The Last Ship is not among their best efforts, but it's still an enjoyable listen with various catchy melodies and a convincing middle-earth atmosphere.
