The Heliocentrics appear to be ever-evolving, constantly changing their overall sound to match the mood and the aesthetic of the album in their visions. A far cry from the murky, smoke-filled jazz-funk of From The Deep, the group's sound on A World Of Masks is like a walk through a sweltering desert, with their compositions forming a base structure for vocalist to sing beautifully on top of and for instruments to weave inside and out of. It's almost like a record by The Myrrors if were influenced by electronic and psychedelic jazz elements. The formulas of the songs don't change too much during the album, and the emphasis is far more on the memorability of the vibes felt rather than the songs played, but that's really about it for the album's faults. It's another commendable effort from The Heliocentrics, who are sure to be back with some more deliciousness soon.
