Miazma are convincing with regard to their gothic rock/Sister of Mercy affiliations, yet they are rather short in making the extra mile like other genre runners do from time to time (Aeon Sable, for instance). That goes not only in terms of arrangements, but also in terms of sound. Singer is guilty of growing up with a poster of Andrew Eldritch stuck on his bedroom wall, and while he emulates his style with decency, additional drive as a result of a distinct character, is mostly absent. Nevertheless, people into bands like Sisters of Mercy, The Mission, Type O Negative etc, will find the album appropriate for their deliberations.
