Review Summary: Australian Hip-Hop is a f***ing disgrace, and you haven't heard s***!

Australian Hip-Hop is a f***ing disgrace!

I'm ashamed of our hip-hop scene as the world knows it, which is a shame because if you happen to live in Australia, it's the local and cult scenes that bring the next best rap groups akin to Rat King or Injury Reserve. This mixtape is grimy! It's coked in overblown bass and glitched out trap snares and hi-hats mixed with jazz samples, old-school sampling or warped out laptop keyboards and synthesizers, and no beat ever lets up.

Equally as abrasive are the bars! All these guys bring their A-game, I was honestly confused that there's only meant to be three of these dudes behind it all disregarding the lone feature by s.al (didn't know who s.al was either). There's so many voices and inflictions that keep this nearly featureless mixtape paddling all the way to the 13th track.

WHERE MY JACKET has a real curve-ball to it as well in the sequencing that this may as well be listened to as a record. The final blow all link up together and end on the trajectory of the downward spiral and just leaves on a fade-out like a 'to be continued...,' I'm already hyped for more!
This mixtape was seriously the bomb, and I'm only doing this write up to do whatever it takes to get ya'll to slander Australian Hip-Hop. While every other Australian rapper attempts to be the next Eminem, Too Birds and many like them in my local scene are bringing the nightmare of long nights and the housing depression issues around here to light instead of producing inspirational raps with equally cliche trumpet laden beats as more main-stream gifted acts like Hilltop Hoods, 360 or Bliss n Eso keep telling kids they can be a firetruck when they grow up.

Ironically, Too Birds released this the night of the A.R.I.A. awards ceremony. Watching Hilltop Hoods steal another ARIA trophy for their wives to eventually stab them with last night was just sad. Do we not have anything half as innovative or revolutionary in Hip-Hop 2010- that wasn't to come from America?
I swear to god, if this mixtape doesn't make the rounds, then I blame this socially isolated country surrounded by sea for failing to recognise what's up. Aussie Hip-Hop hasn't heard s***!
