Review Summary: The Liquid Karma Band, Liquid Karma is a great first effort for this particular kind of metal.

I have had the pleasure of viewing this band during the time frame of this album and in Atlanta recently. Professionally, the band has matured and is much more aware of their sound than in their earlier days. This album was written and performed while the band lived on Okinawa. I would guess the year as aprox 1993 to 1994. The recording is excellant and highlights the guitar virtuso Jimi Whitmore. As a master slide player, his playing reminds you of Gary Richrath of REO Speedwagon fame, although the music of this album is closer to an AC/DC style of music. That is except, the last track called Evil in Mind. This rather dark song employs keyboards and even though a great song, is apparently not on the bands live bill to date. Just why is not known to this writer.

I would recommend this album and the bands second album The Shadow, to anyone interested in blues based rock from an excellant INDIE band. The Shadow, is a softer album that is written and performed by todays Liquid Karma Band line up. This album has not been highlighted online like "LIQUID KARMA", but can be obtained on their website and at their gigs. Apparrently most of the recording is a statement by the bass player Jeff Earl Samford. He is credited for 6 of the 9 songs on the album. The record speaks of lost love and dreams of unobtainable contentment in a rock style that is different than the first recording. I would rate this album as a great second effort by the Liquid Karma Band.
