Release Date: 2003 | Tracklist

This is the newest release by one of the best Traditonal 3rd wave ska bands around. The Slackers are from New York and have been around since 91. Their live sets are amazing, often playing for 2 or more hours with plenty of improve and dance music to tire anyone.

This album is more of the same from the slackers. If you havent heard of them and like a lot of ska, this wouldn't be my first suggestion to pick up, but it would still give you a good idea of what to expect from them.

If you like skapunk, dont expect this album to knock you off your feet. It is very laid back, mellow music compared to skapunk. This is dance music not moshing music.

If I ever catch you moshing at a Slackers show I will beat you.

1. Skankbon
Instrumental piece. They are a very talented band overall. This shows it.
2. Old Dog
Very slow ska song. Makes comparisions between slavery and being a dog... i think.

Click on the link and you can hear for yourself.
4. "Bin Waiting"
Again, Click on the link and you can hear.
5. Real War
Song about war. The one that was going on not to long ago. Very slow, great lyrics. Not the normal vocalist (I think the keyboardist sings this one)
6. Lazy Woman
Song about a lazy woman. Its a funny lighthearted song between two reletivly serious ones.
7. Mommy
About the keyboardist's mother. Makes its both a joyous tribute and a painful rememberence.
8. I Don't Wanna Go Home
http://www.theslackers.com/mp3s/The%20Slackers-IDon'tWannaGoHome.mp3
I dont know why it wont let me put this one into a simple link. Copy/Paste
9. Who Knows
Typical Ska tune. Great vocals and additional instruments over a simple guiatr/keyboard ska progression.
10. Close My Eyes
Very simple musically, but beautiful lyrics. About post 9/11
11. I'll Stay Away
http://www.theslackers.com/mp3s/TheSlackers-I'llStayAway.mp3
My personal favorite song on the album. If you are going to download one of the songs, download this one.
12. Decon Dub
A dub song. I dont really like dub too much. Its an instrumental... technically. The first track is better.

Rating 3.5/5

Its an essential slackers album. But I wouldn't say its an essential Ska album. Its still very good

If you like what you hear

Ha, that was funny.

The stuff I've heard by them is pretty good. I haven't heard much though.

I listened to the song "Sarah". It was pretty good.

Really mellow and laid-back like you said.

Cool, hadn't imagine anyone would review the slackers. They're not my favourite band or anything, but I have their Wasted Days album, and its great for relaxing to (and a couple of the tracks, such as The Nurse and Wasted Days itself), are just great on their own). I haven't heard this album though, maybe I'll check it out now...

I just listened to a few of their songs for the first time, and man they really did impress me. I'm more of a skapunk guy I admit, but even then, I really love these songs. Thanks Kithkin. :thumb:

Sorry, but bad review you don't really know too much about the band but I'm sure you could write a better review now.
