3.5 great | Poeticals | June 2nd 13 | The production is a bit uneven. Samples "appear" out of nowhere and are perhaps there as sound effect; the "Let It Be" sample, e.g., adds no mood or thematic-flourish. It's the sound of two guys still exploring. The one selling point the otherwise mediocre group has is its vocalist. Jupiter Jim has clear skills, beyond whomever he's compared with this week. On "Church", "The Adventure" and "Sleepless Dreamers", Jupiter Jim is able to rhyme unfettered by the obvious in-your-face production. Jupiter Jim, once called the "underrated outerspace pimp" should have quite a career ahead of him. As soon as a worthwhile producer arrives.
