a sort of loss of course during the third section.
This is exactly why I dropped my rating. Regression can't seem to hold it together long enough to be interesting to me.

very good review. it sums up most of my thoughts on the album also - it's strong, but loses it's way at times.

Excellent review WITH NO REMORSE, and album is awesome.
3.5 seems to low for this, though.

Dream Theater has had an empty scrotum since Train of Thought.

3.5 seems to low for this, though. yeah I know, but it was one of the biggest decisions of my day
and Dream Theater hasn't done anything important since the early 90s

theres too many parts in this album that lose my attention which keeps it from having a higher score. but for as long and daring as this album is, its pretty good

I agree, that was one of the points I wanted to make, and they really pull of the sci-fi thing far better than anyone else

Great review, although you don't say much about the lyrics...? How does the sci-fi theme play out? I just ordered the CD off http://kalisia.com/ and it says they ship @ the end of january I hope they don't mind me listening to the torrented copy till then.

Like this:
A powerful (insert here: Wizard/Knight/King/Rebel/Queen) has taken (over/prisoner) of (generic good guy named republic nation/ princess/prince of said generic republic nation). Also, he shoots (fire/lightning/ice/a combination of all three) out of his (hands/eyes/feet/ if you're a risk-taker, his ass)
A young (boy/dog/girl/robot/android) that no one knows about or cares about meets a (failure/exile/criminal with a good heart) who is trying to (redeem himself/ regain his honor/money/both / get laid). The two set out, accompanied by a (robot / two robots / a dog / a robot dog / a dog and a robot), not knowing that the (boy/dog/girl/robot/android) actually is a (latent super-dude who requires absolutely no training / prince/ genius / tool). Along the way, they meet ( another robot / another dog / a combination of a dog and a robot / a combination of a human and any animal, but usually a dog) who also happens to be a great (pilot / killer / pilot-killer / douchebag). They accidentally wind up inside the enemy (base / castle / THAT'S NOT A MOON). As they fight their way out, the (failure/exile/criminal with a good heart) sacrifices himself for the (boy/dog/girl/robot/android) because (of a vendetta / he's retarded / IT'S A SPACE STATION).
Note: if you chose "Criminal with a good heart", they also met another person, who is either the failure or the exile. He will be the guy who dies.
The (boy/dog/girl/robot/android) is very (sad / angry/ turned on ) about the death of his friend. Incidentally, he also happens to be the best (pilot / racer / killing machine) in the (universe / city / street). The remaining band joins up with the local (insurgent force / rebel force / band of douchebags who want their money ) and set out to destroy the thing that is not a moon. Because the (boy/dog/girl/robot/android) is so awesome, the thing that is not a moon is invariably destroyed. The remaining companion gets laid, the (boy/dog/girl/robot/android) gets laid (unless you chose android or robot; sorry, not everyone gets to be happy).
Roll credits and bad (music / dancing / director taking your money).
