JavaJazz Bulan di Asia4.5
Compared to their then-releases - 1998's Sabda Prana (The Voices of Soul) and 2009's Joy Joy Joy - in my opinion, Bulan di Asia (Moon in Asia) is slightly better. And personally, among those three albums, I love Bulan di Asia most. This is solid debut, indeed. Highly recommended to any jazz lover!

JavaJazz Joy Joy Joy4.0
Those are familiar with the late saxophonist Embong Rahardjo's vibes on two JavaJazz previous releases, perhaps this album sounds slightly strange to them. Yes, keyboardist and band-leader Indra Lesmana preferred to add one more guitarist, Dewa Budjana, rather than to seek for another saxophonist to replace the 'irreplaceable' Rahardjo's spot. But, the bright-side is, guitarist Budjana apparently succeeded to show off his capability with his own twist. In addition, the album not only presents six brand-new songs, but also six old songs from previous album, 1998's Sabda Prana. Besides, there are two 'dedicated-song' here. The first is "Going Home" which is dedicated to Embong Rahardjo who passed away in 2001; their close friend and all at once ex band member. The second is "Java's Weather" which is dedicated to the legend Joe Zawinul of Weather Report who passed away in 2007.
JavaJazz Sabda Prana4.0
Throughout the album, all players showed off their well plait chemistry. That's right, Sabda Prana is too worthy to be ignored!
Dave Holland Conference of the Birds4.5
... obviously an essential jazz album!
Terje Rypdal Odyssey5.0
My first impression after hearing Odyssey; Rypdal's soaring solos are just mindblowing. However, obviously it's not "soaring"-thing that makes the album worth a listen, but Rypdal's versatility itself. This is indeed classic album from a guitar maestro.
Antibalas Antibalas4.0
Charles Mingus The Black Saint and the Sinner Lady5.0
Hm, this album title is kinda creepy, but don't let it fool you, this is beautiful and mesmerizing jazz release.
SimakDialog Demi Masa4.5
Demi Masa (meaning; "for the sake of time" in Bahasa) is fifth release of SimakDialog. This album, in my opinion, is their best output to date beside "Patahan" which I consider as one of their best too (I can't decide which one I love most between these two). Demi Masa does show SimakDialog's maturity in bringing east-meet-west concept. Besides, it also proves how flexible jazz music is; you can hear such a harmonious musical-dialogue among the instrumentalists, and all players have their own way to express their delightful improvisation.
SimakDialog Patahan4.5
"Patahan" (meaning; fault or fracture) is an awe-inspiring musical endeavor. This is one of my favorite SimakDialog albums. Here, its atmospheric and soaring electric guitar solos, chordal and ethnic vibes of electronic keyboard or synthesizer accompanied by thick riffs of the bass-line, and also its rhythmic and a sort of mystical percussions' instrumentation are seemingly bringing us into new dimension of musical experiences. However, this kind of music wants full concentration - literally, SimakDialog itself, in Bahasa means "to listen to the dialogue carefully", that is a very fitting band name, right? Just let it grows on you in few first listens, and then you decide whether this is your kind of thing or not.
Tohpati It's Time3.0
Here, Tohpati plays easy and soft jazz (you can say it pop, smooth, light jazz or whatsoever you want). The album as whole is pretty okay in my opinion, but I recommend you track It's Time, Song for Aceh, and Gembala.
Tohpati Serampang Samba3.5

Tabernakel perhaps is still Akkerman's best release to date. This is indeed a must have stuff!

As the title may says, this album is pretty good when you listen to it in one quite night with a glass of wine, of course!

Elegant! What else could I say? Yeah, it's just elegant...
Zeke and The Popo Unrescued World3.0
Good EP, despite it is not so that impressive and there's nothing groundbreaking yet. However, Zeke and The Popo obviously show that they are talented, and they will be "something" big only if they find their own deep musical twist.
Tika & The Dissidents The Headless Songstress4.5
"The Headless Songstress" is an album that offers diverse musical styles - from blues to jazz to pop-rock to tango and few others - within its 40s-minute duration. And now the question, what is exactly their genre? I myself would say; forget it! It's just a label, and as long as their music is as good as this, they really deserve appreciation and their forthcoming album worth anticipating.

Kurt Rosenwinkel Deep Song4.0
"Deep Song" is a cogent evident of Rosenwinkel's musical maturity. If you love jazz guitarists such as Mike Stern or Pat Metheny, Kurt Rosenwinkel is really worth listening too...
Pop Shuvit Amped & Dangerous2.5
Aww, this is not their best record, IMO. Don't like this, I prefer their previous stuffs
named "Take It & Shuvit" and "Here and Now" over this one!

Interpolarity = Sound of nature. Just listen to what forest, water, etc, speak to us!
Robert Plant Dreamland3.5
We can find only few memorable tracks here - something fresh! But, as whole, it's not so impressive though, nothing new. However, it's highly recommended to any Led Zeppelin fan.

The Derek Trucks Band The Derek Trucks Band4.0
If you like their recent releases (say, their last two-three albums), and don't listen to this one yet, you better give it a try. This self-titled album is just surprisingly damn great!

Awesome live performance by Derek Trucks and friends, if you never heard of this band before, this live album is a good start along with their studio album called "Songlines".

Lee Ritenour Overtime3.5
Great album, but it's not the first album that you should start with (if you haven't listened to any album of his before).
Lee Ritenour Rit2.5
A bit boring, but it's not so that bad; 2.5/5 to 3/5 is fair, Imo...
Lee Ritenour This Is Love4.5
Instrumentally, it's superb. Personally I love this album a lot. And the two featuring singers, Phil Perry and Lisa Fischer (only in two songs), really make this stuff complete!

This album is one among Lee Ritenour's finest records, IMO.

Mocca Happy Birthday3.0
This EP seems to show that Mocca try to take different approach of musical direction. Unlike their predecessor LPs which are so pop and jazzy, Mocca apparently also manage to (pop) rock, just listen to opening track "Lucky Me". Beside, they also play some bluesy tune in the follow-on track "Baby, You're a Fool", and some electronica in "I Would Never (Remix)". However, the rest ones still follow similar styles of any other Mocca's previous release.
City and Colour Bring Me Your Love3.5
There is a nice acoustic performance within "Bring Me Your Love". And yes, basically this type of music is indeed suitable for those who seek for composure situation.
Eddie Vedder Into the Wild3.5
If you have ever watched "Into the Wild" movie, and you like it, perhaps you are interested in giving this a listen. Yea, in my opinion, this soundtrack is as good as the movie!...
Mocca Friends3.5
There is an enticing tune throughout "Friends". Lyrically, they seem comfortable to use story-telling concept. You can enjoy a halcyon easy-listening pop in track "I Think I'm In Love" and "My Only One" and few others for examples. Also, have a great bossanova tune in "Buddy Zeus", if it does not enough; just pick up the jazzy "How Wonderful Life Would Be" and swinging track "Swing It Bob!? Yes, in average, this is great (indie) pop stuff. Perhaps, you will love their lovely female vocals too.
Anoushka Shankar Rise4.0
uh, this album exhibits awesome composition with the instrumentation of modern electronica plus traditional instruments like violin, piano, cello, and didgeridoo, however the important one is traditional Indian instruments like sitar!...
Carlos Santana and Wayne Shorter Live at the Montreux Jazz Festival 19884.5
What a great chemistry between guitarist Carlos Santana and saxophonist Wayne Shorter. This live album is about the two great musicians' skill demonstration. Also don't forget, what makes this album awesome must because of very proficient back-up/additional musicians participated in the album. Superb!
Iced Earth Burnt Offerings4.5
I was like "damn, this must be one of my favorite power metal albums!...". The song composition is genius with a lot of thrashy moments. In addition, they are also indeed skilled and talented musicians. It?s recommended to all of power metal, thrash, and even any other heavy metal music lover. Get or you will regret!

Possessed's "Seven Churches" is truly classic death metal stuff......
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds3.5
If you like Oasis, you must like this Noel's solo album. Yes, most of songs are reminiscent of tune-styles of Oasis. This is actually quite enjoyable and radio-friendly, but it is less innovation and musical experiment. Hmm, whatever, so far so good, so just enjoy it...
Emmure Slave To The Game2.0
If you are not familiar with metalcore, it's okay for you to have this stuff. Yea sometimes the bad thing leads you to the good thing. Listening to this, you know what terrible metalcore means, and so, if you already knew what bad metalcore criteria is, and then I know you will search the finest metalcore stuffs! Ciaww...
Emmure Felony1.0
I knew Emmure in my first day after I registered the account. Therefore, I'm not surprise
that many friends of mine also never heard Emmure. Here, me and my friends always have cool
American-metalcore stuffs, but, Emmure? Ooh, God, I don't what to say! This stuff sucks hard
(if I was 12, I might like it!). If you want to do a suicide and feel a bit afraid to pull
gun's trigger, I recommend you this. FELONY, with all of its horrible music, you will be
determined to do a suicide. Nothing in this world is more horrible than this, even a
suicide!
Orphaned Land Mabool (The Story of the Three Sons...)4.0
Solid album, this Israeli band knew not only how to make a good (prog) metal stuff, but also how to combine it with their own cultural (music) heritage. Both Netanyahu and Abbas must listen to track "Ocean Land" carefully, they both must interpret lyrics "...hayya 'alassalaam!" To dear Netanyahu and Abbas, please think that, make "assalaam" real!
Red Hot Chili Peppers I'm With You3.0
Basically, this album ain't bad, it's pretty good instead! I love only few tracks of it especially "Monarchy of Rose," "Did I Let You Know," and "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie". Their new guitarist, in my opinion, is pretty talented, but as a long-time fan of RHCP (I love all of their albums with John Fruciante as guitarist) I need more times to dig this and try to forget my hero, Mr. Fruciante...
Joss Stone Mind, Body & Soul3.5
Opening track "Right to Be Wrong" is so bluesy and soulful. Stone's vocals are awesome as always. Then, track "Less Is More" is so soulful and reggae-ish (we want more track like this, dear Joss Stone!) All in all, this album is pretty good and enjoyable, despite it is not so that impressive as my f*cking ex said last year!
Jamiroquai Dynamite3.5
Cool, fun, and joyful, that it is Jamiroquai's "Dynamite," check out track "Seven Days In Sunny June," you'll know what my first sentence means.
Disinfected Melted3.5
Cover art is undeniably creepy, despite at the same time it also looks so simple. However, not the cover art that make the album special, but good music. There is an awesome death metal play within the content of "Melted". Although the album is quite short, only 26 minutes of music, but all of those seven tracks are fairly strong (include a cover version; "South Of Heaven" of Slayer. Opening track "Eternal Wrath Flowing In Human Artery" is great opener. It flows aggressively, and immediately people will feel somewhat raw sound at first -- the sound that ususally death metal fans could find in early 90s. In the side of intensity play and songwriting composition, other tracks follow similar formula to the opening one.
Sil Khannaz Gerbang Kayangan3.5
If you are so familiar with Sil khannaz's debut album, "Conception Of Madness" (1993), which is so 'death metal' feel (with a lot of thrash influence), you probably will feel that "Gerbang Kayangan" (Gate of Heaven, or Sky Gate) is a bit odd and completely different with their debut material. Yes, Sil Khannaz seemed intentionally to explore their musical potential, not fall into single extreme metal style. With this "Gerbang Kayangan", they tried to be a more melodic, beautiful guitar play, lighter tune, radio friendly and easy listening, or whatsoever! Yea you will get a more heavy metal style in here. You won't find typical extreme tracks like "Obscured Denial", "Frantical Screams", and "Bayond My Darkest Moment" that only could be found in their debut album. Nonetheless, aside from their effort in changing musical direction, this is still great release, it's well done, and yes it's quite enjoyable!

Raw and loud, atmospheric and creepy black/thrash music. Vocals is awesome, drums is powerful and solid. Although riffs is a bit repetitive, but it's not boring stuff at all, because this EP is quite short; only 20 minutes of music.

"Scream of Heaven" basically is a pretty decent black metal stuff. But, it is also combined with a bit gothic influences - I think this is okay then...
Sil Khannaz Conception of Madness4.0
This is great amalgamating between the more technical side of thrash and
power/aggressiveness of death. Production quality is somewhat raw, but still it's pretty
enjoyable. All instrument adequately balanced, there's no excessive overwhelming. Drumming
is solid and powerful. Vocals is a bit "low-tuned", overshadowed by guitar sounds. Bass is
not so audible. However, the important thing is, all actual player of this band have had a
great job. Their "Conception Of Madness" is one among few decent death metal releases in
South East Asia in early 90s. r
Lord Symphony The Lord's Wisdom (Demo)3.5
Wow, this is great demo - a well-executed stuff, and yes it must be very proficient musicians behind this work. Any power metal fan who ever listened to this, must be curious about their first LP. Considering this stuff is a demo, and I still don't have a chance yet to give their full-length album a listen, so I can't say more words to describe, except; this demo is GREAT...
Ritual Carnage The Birth of Tragedy3.5
"The Birth Of Tragedy" (2002) is a release of Ritual Carnage (RC), thrash metal band from Japan. Unlike their latest stuff, "I, Infidel" (2005), this release is a bit intense in death-metal style, especially in vocals and and fast-paced rhythms of guitars. Despite it is not too intense as what people could get in "I, Infidel", this album at least has few highlight songs, and yes, they're pretty cool...
Lumpur Skema Pembalasan Sempurna3.5
"Skema Pembalasan Sempurna", or in English "Perfect Scheme of Retaliation", is second effort by brutal death band Lumpur (English : Mud). After sort of average quality both in technical and production of their debut album few years ago, now they return, this time they are more dangerous. But, it's worthy to mention earlier, in the sea of world brutal death music, this album is going to be one of countless brutal death stuffs that people will dig or won't. Meaning that, the album actually offers nothing new to the fans of such sub-genre. It's just one among many well-executed brutal death stuffs that released in 2012. People who seek for brutal death with new innovation, perhaps this EP will disappoint them, because it will remind them to many similar stuffs that already existed earlier. In the other side, people who seek for a pretty decent stuff and have a bit interest to turn of the head to other regional death metal scene that they never know before, so this album is worthy enough to dig.r

Cromok Yours Truly3.5
This is great album. The song such as "Siblings", "Stranger", "Maram Perapu Kepunden Paran Sekeper", and "Final Ticking", are pretty strong intense composition. All of it has adequate aggressive thrash riffs. Then song such as "IC", "Castway", "Punishment Hour", and "Somewhere Anywhere", are pretty weak. Although still, all of it can be enjoyed, but definitely need a little more time to dig and click it. Overall, Cromok still stands out with their approach; the more melodic guitar solos. They even managed to put into the album their traditional Malay folk sound. One more, Cromok also provides a sort of Middle Eastern pattern scale into the song such as "Stranger" and "Little One". So, a 3.5 is my highest rate!
Orgone (USA-PA) The Goliath4.0
Ritual Day Sky Lake4.0
"Sky Lake", probably is one among few cool BM stuffs that people coud get from China scene. If you have ever had a chance watching "Global Metal" by Sam Dunn, one of member of this band (Ritual Day) was featured in that documentary. Define themselves as melodic black metal (to me, this such term does not make any sense), Ritual Day definitely delivers the goods. If you want something new, or at least different nuance of BM, this album worth a spin.r

Excellent thrash stuff anyway! If you're thrash fans, and supposed non-English song isn't a barrier, so this album should catch your consideration. Mostly, about 90 percent of the the lyrics are sung in Indonesian Bahasa. It's semi-modern thrash stuff in the side of sound. However, consider only its first seven songs, the rest four are typically hardrock style...

Forgotten (Idn) Tiga Angka Enam Re-release3.5
Tiga Angka Enam or in English we'll say, three six numbers-or 666, is excellent album. It has all requisite for death metal fans to consider a listen. Awesome furious shouting on vocals, know what taste of speed and brute meaning of, and all in all this band always concern in rebellion themes on the lyrics (idn), sometimes too vulgar for their native homeland country, Indonesia.

Brain Ass? Haha, what a funny band name! However, their album isn't funny at all. They
played a serious brutal death music at their best effort. That's right that they offered
nothing new (innovation) to such sub-genre, but considering this is a well-executed stuff
with proficient musicianship, so I think trying to check out their "myspace" is nothing to
lose...

Discus ...tot licht!4.5
This album is pretty complex and varied. Discus combined a lot of genres ranging from (light) jazz, pop-rock, symphonic prog, Javanese and Balinese folk music, and even heavy metal. Yes, this album is definitely progressive stuff, in few moments you possibly will remind to golden era of 70s prog, but this album has an original touch, especially when it comes to ethnics music parts. This album also has a quite varied time signature alternating. So, if you are prog-lovers, you better check track "Anne" and "Verso Kartini..Door Diuste" first, but if you come from heavy metal background, opening track "System Manipulation" is best way to begin your adventure with this band. Album?s flaw, perhaps it is lack of focus; too many styles that were done within one hour lengthy, but sometimes it also could be unique, it?s not monotonous. Also, their English lyrics is a bit silly and juvenile, but it?s pretty okay sometimes when you love their somewhat virtuoso play ;)

Gugun Power Trio Satu Untuk Berbagi4.0
Despite most tracks were sung in non-english language, i see the band effort to reach the wider audience from non-blues listener. Good effort guys.., the way you mix blues with funk, pop, rock, even jazz and soul..., saluuteee!!
Gugun Power Trio Get The Bug2.5
Gugun Power Trio Turn It On3.0
Wow..., "Woman" track remind me of the Great Stevie Ray Vaughan...killer rhythm and touching melodies...whole tracks good enough i think, despite no some kind link a blues revolutionary musical line, but the album like another blues guitar oriented musician, may be watching them performing live will be more valuable for me to catch their great play......
Gugun Power Trio Gugun Blues Shelter3.5
Great released! I realized that nowadays blues isn't mainstream music in any part of the world, that the fact, and we face it...
Gugun Power Trio Far East Blues Experience3.0
"Far East Experience" exactly well crafted blues music album. This album showed me how blues always alive. The album actually 'nothing' new in global music map, you know, it just something like another reminder to us--that the world ever had a killer guitarist like Jimi Hendrix or SRV. And the album, reminding and refreshing us that Gugun and his friends just continued their blues master predecessor legacy....
Children of Bodom Hate Crew Deathroll3.5
Children of Bodom Hatebreeder4.5
Superb! what else can i say...?? this works of Alexi Laiho and friends was definitely deserved to be one of the best extreme metal album in late of 1990's decade and early millennium of 2000's.......
Nightwish Once3.0
Good, very good i guess..........off-course according to my ears no bad track at all, the album enjoyable enough, but it didn't last too long because soon the boring situation attack me....

Hmmm, I think this album is valuable enough and enjoyable...
Megadeth Rust in Peace5.0
Yeaahhh, that's right !! Rust In Peace is definitely CLASSIC....
Megadeth Endgame4.5
The most valuable thrash metal album I think in decade of 2000's, this superb release was a
sign that old metal hero such Megadeth will never die, time will prove it, trust me! The
album maybe not a classic one compared to their 1990's Rust in Peace, but I have some kind
of a feeling that Endgame will be another classic of Megadeth, once again only the time will
prove it!
Burgerkill Berkarat3.5
The tracks entire the album were sung in band's native language, Indonesia. If somebody with no clue what exactly the vocalist scream of (singing, i mean...) , just prefer to their music than vocals, even somebody speak fluent in Indonesian language will difficult to catch what words they speak of...so i think music was global language...you don't need the dictionary to understand what they sing unless you have become their die hard fans. For me the album is a great released, the track " Tinggalkan Aku Terdiam" is my favorite one, the song begin with a killer rhythm electric guitar then after minutes switched to a cool rhythm acoustic guitar....that my opinion why a like the album!
Burgerkill Venomous4.0
This is excellent album from Burgerkill. Indonesia as we know is the 'unknown' place for any musical genre in global map of music scene, especially for heavy metal. May it just Anggun who is from Indonesia that got a little bit attention of her musical and singing work that notable enough to global listener. So this work honestly, in technical is a little bit sounds like a technical death metal with lots of riffs play. Anyway, the album according to my opinion deserved to be accepted with a warmly heart..
Gugun Power Trio Solid Ground4.0
This is an excellent release. Anyone who familiar with SRV, Jimmy Hendrix, and Tommy Bolin, will find such influences in this record. With eleven tracks inside, Solid Ground touched my ears with its complex and hard blues guitar riff, except two track "Soul on Fire" and "Vixen Eyes", it's truly bluesy and funky...and so easy listening off course!
DeadSquad Horror Vision2.5
I tried few spins for this stuff, and still don't click yet. Probably it was because of its
kinda overused and boring breakdowns, or something (I dunno!)! Actually, nothing wrong with
breakdowns, however this stuff is not my cup of coffee. And one thing more, DeadSquad also
delivered a few short clean jazz licks on one or two songs. This is something unnecessary,
imo. I love jazz, really, but putting some clean jazzy licks into this brutal death stuff,
it would be kinda strange - DeadSquad seemed like want to show people that they're a
technical brutal death band, in my opinion this such approach doesn't really make any
sense!
