It is pretty generic, but it is enjoyable enough to deserve a listen.
Nocturnal Rites In a Time of Blood and Fire2.5
Ultimately a fun release, but not the most creative or unique in Power Metal.
Grave Digger Clash of the Gods2.0
There are a few good songs here-and-there (Home at Last, Death Angel), but not enough to warrant multiple listens. This is just another average, generic power metal album that only the most hardcore of fans will really enjoy.

This album is really overlooked; it may not have Tolkki on vocals, but the songs are all pretty good, and are a bit more varied compared to other Stratovarius albums.
Stratovarius Stratovarius1.0
Grave Digger The Last Supper1.5
Lacks the drive, and songwriting, that made Rheingold so good. Power Metal has never sounded so poorly played and robotic.

Unoriginal thrash, but decent. You could do so much better, but also a lot worse...
Autopsy Mental Funeral3.0
Production is really bad, but if you get past that (or enjoy the rougher productions of the 80s/90s Death Metal albums), you will find a really enjoyable and varied Death Metal album.

Anthrax Fistful of Metal3.5
Nightrage Wearing a Martyr's Crown4.0

Harsher singing in some songs, along with an overall heavier feel, makes this a good successor in comparison to its predecessor (Strings to a Web). Well-varied, but lacks the consistency of the previous album.

Certainly a unique Testament album; many of their best songs off of their first two albums are rerecorded in a much heavier style. With that said, you are probably better off getting The Legacy and The New Order before this; as interesting an album this is.

Running Wild Blazon Stone2.5
Dethklok The Dethalbum 2.5
Pantera The Great Southern Trendkill1.5

Primal Fear Jaws of Death2.0
This is pretty boring stuff here, Mr. Scheepers...A step down compared to the debut and Nuclear Fire, even if Final Embrace is the band's best song.
Helloween Rabbit Don't Come Easy2.0
The problem isn't the style. I love simple Power Metal if it is done well...but this album has way too many boring moments to be essential; let alone purchase-worthy.
Kalmah Swamplord5.0
Kalmah Swampsong3.5
Dio Sacred Heart3.5
Queen Innuendo2.5
KISS Asylum3.0
This is MUCH better than the previous Glam Metal efforts...but is still too generic to warrant anything higher than a 3/5. Still, I'm Alive, King of the Mountain, Who Wants to Be Lonely and Tears are Falling aren't songs you should pass up on; while the Gene Simmons songs are.
Dio The Last in Line2.5
Ensiferum Ensiferum3.5

Not quite as good as the debut, but "Crimson Rider" and "Black in the Burn" are probably the best songs Masterplan has ever created.

No matter how good Divide Devour may be, this is easily the worst Power Metal album I have
ever heard.
Iced Earth Framing Armageddon2.5
Despite pointless interludes, this was a much better album than what I was expecting. Generally a better album than Glorious Burden, at the very least...
Primal Fear Black Sun4.0
Slayer Reign in Blood2.0
In Flames The Jester Race3.5
Helloween The Dark Ride4.0
Gamma Ray Insanity and Genius4.0
An impressive album by Gamma Ray, after their forgettable "Sigh No More" release. The album returns to a sound similar to "Heading For Tomorrow", and has some of the best crafted songs the band has made (until Kai took over). Fans of Power Metal should definitely listen to Tribute to the Past, Last Before the Storm, Heal Me, and Your Turn is Over.
Scorpions Love At First Sting4.0
Helloween Master of the Rings4.5
Gamma Ray Sigh No More1.5
This album boils down to a couple of awesome songs, a few decent songs, and 6 songs of boredom. Stick with Heading for Tomorrow or Kai's albums.
Helloween Helloween EP3.0
Gamma Ray Skeletons & Majesties1.5
Helloween Unarmed1.0
And this is why Helloween should just stay with Power Metal.
Machine Head Unto the Locust3.0
Iron Savior Unification2.0
This is Power Metal at its most generic. Little of this album stands out; with only the covers of Gorgar and Neon Knights, along with newly-penned tracks Coming Home and Starborn, being the only things worthwhile among 10 boring, plodding tracks. Avoid.

Megadeth Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?5.0
Its a pity Rust in Peace will always cause fans to overlook Mustaine's first masterpiece. This album features some of Megadeth's best songs, and contains some of the best song-writing in a Thrash album. The only problem is the cover of "I Ain't Superstitious", which feels out of place on in between the two fastest songs on the album: "Bad Omen" and "My Last Words".
Megadeth Rust in Peace5.0
This was the first album I ever purchased for a reason. There isn't a single moment of this metallic onslaught that doesn't warrant a listener's full attention; with aggression emitting from every member of the band. I would list the songs I recommend, but you can just look at the track list (though I can't deny that Tornado of Souls is the defining song of Thrash Metal).
Megadeth Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!4.5
Iced Earth Dystopia4.5
Iced Earth Burnt Offerings5.0
Jon Schaffer skillfully combines both genres with dark atmospheres to create one of the best Thrash and Power Metal albums ever composed. The album is filled with incredible playing from each member; especially Matt Barlow, then-new vocalist for Iced Earth. Each song is another journey through anger and sadness, with their record company, foolish teenage romance, and religious individuals with "holier-than-thou" attitudes being the band's targets. However, none of these songs (Burnt Offerings, Last December, Brainwashed respectively) come even close to Dante's Inferno, the 16 minute album closer that transcends moods and has each member doing their absolute best work with their skill.
Iced Earth Horror Show4.5
Iced Earth Night of the Stormrider4.5
