By far their worst album yet, and one of the worst metalcore albums I've heard over the last few years. I don't understand how they nosedived so quickly, but this was genuinely hard to finish listening to.

Damn near close to being one of the best pop albums of the last few years - but the pacing is
boderline AWFUL. I have no problem with the occasional slow song, but for some reason they seem to
come in pairs on this album, which makes the tonal shifts all the more jarring when they happen.

When she's on, she's ON though. Really excited to see what else she does in her career.
Ariana Grande Eternal Sunshine1.5
Jfc this is such a boring album. Even the upbeat songs are dragged down by her obnoxious, self-indulgent songwriting. I'll never understand the hype around Ariana Grande - it's like she hits a couple high notes and everyone loses their damn minds.
Too Close to Touch For Keeps3.0
They probably would've been better off cutting about half the songs and making this an EP instead - the highlights are outstanding but there's also some lame, half-baked songs on here as well. Can't be too harsh though considering this is a post-humous release.

Holy hell! This album was awesome from start to finish, and is an improvement over their debut in nearly every way. The compositions are more interesting, the hooks are catchier, and the flow (which was my biggest gripe with their debut) is MUCH better. This is about as good as alt-rock gets in 2024.

Excellent follow up to her debut. Was a touch too preachy at times for my taste and it ends with kind of a whimper rather than a bang, but this is still solid as hell.
Hannah Diamond Perfect Picture1.5
This album is 50% boring as hell, 50% obnoxious. The consistent use of autotune and pitch shifts is grating the longer you listen to it, and the hooks you'd expect from a pop album are almost nonexistent. If JOTW is right and this is an improvement over her debut, then it's safe to say I won't be listening to her debut anytime soon.

Man, this album got off to TOO good of a start for its quality to drop off so drastically. It's
really too bad, because the first few songs are truly great - but the rest are just so dull and

It's a marginal improvement over Sour, but is weighed down by pretty much all the same things. The
songwriting is wildly inconsistent, with the low points being REALLY low. And there are far too
many ballads that screw with the album's flow.

But when the album hits, my goodness does it hit. She knows how to write a killer hook. Tons of
potential - hoping she can reach it someday.

Caroline Polachek Desire, I Want To Turn Into You3.0
It's not bad - there's a few pleasant songs here. But this feels like pop music that's allergic to hooks, and because of that so many songs just sorta come and go without leaving any impression, good or bad.

My man just used "nu metal guitars" and "Britney Spears vocals" in the same sentence to describe a Rebecca Black album. Now I REALLY gotta check this shit out.

When she elevates her songs beyond the typical standard of minimalistic, breathy, folk-pop, the
album is REALLY GOOD. But the majority of the album is very typical melodramatic, boring folk
music that drags the rest of it down.

I'll just be up front - I do NOT like Demi Lovato and she annoys the hell out of me a lot of the

isn't that, so I'll get her some credit.

It's still not that good though, and it reeks of that sort of try-hard eDgInEsS and overproduction
that so many artists in this new wave of pop-punk have been guilty of. If she continues in this
direction though it should yield some interesting results.

Has its moments, and it's very well written, but so many songs are overlong and feel almost unfinished. This was a nice experience, but I probably won't be returning.
King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard Omnium Gatherum3.5
Finally got around to listening to this, and I'm pretty disappointed. For starters, it probably wasn't a good idea to release the best song on the album first, because it all seems to go downhill once you finish the opener. And this is WAY too disjointed - KGLW has proven to be a versatile band, but hearing the album jump from psychedelic, to indie pop, to thrash, to rap, and back again is incredibly exhausting. I'd honestly prefer either of their last three albums to this one.
The Venetia Fair Every Sick, Disgusting Thought...4.5
Nova Twins Supernova3.5

This rating would probably be much higher if it weren't for one thing - the absolutely GRATING screams. Has some really catchy hooks and slaps quite a bit when she's using her cleans, but the screaming is absolutely awful.

I've liked their past releases so I was hoping I'd like this more. And really it's not bad, but they could've afforded more variety since all the songs sort of blend together by the end. And the cover of Don't Speak was very disappointing, I thought they'd do literally ANYTHING different from the original song, but nope.

This is definitely their most bombastic album yet, but the hooks are so good it's hard not to love. The downside is that a few songs meander a bit too much for my liking, but for the most part this is another hit for them.

Lol why is Avril Lavigne being praised so much for doing the same things that other aging pop-punk artists have been criticized for? Sure, there's some guilty pleasures, but the songwriting is cringey and disingenuous as hell, the features are horrible and unnecessary, and it just feels like she's trying WAY too hard. I guess this is better than her last two albums, but that is a hilariously low bar to clear.

Definitely the best thing she's ever made (although the bar isn't that high). The 80's sound really works well for her, but there are definitely some duds to be found here too. Remove the rose-colored glasses, and what you get is a decent (but off putting) post-punk

This was made with the best of intentions, but let's be real: Jason Butler is a terrible rapper, the lyrics are incredibly repetitive and predictable, and there are no interesting beats or instrumental moments to supplement Butler's grating vocals. Easily the worst pop album of the year. I don't have the patience to sit down and write a review for this, so here are the cliffnotes: Some of the worst and most cliche songwriting (maybe ever), the same recycled minimalistic trap beats are used OVER AND OVER, and the hooks are honestly just annoying more often than not. Perhaps one of the most frustrating albums of the year so far. Should have been great; it has some quality hooks and instrumental performances. Hopefully they can put out a more polished album next time.

I want to like this as much as everyone else here apparently does, but it just doesn't do it for me. First and last songs are probably the best, but yeesh the production on this is rough. Too much autotune throughout, and there are some effects used that would sound cheesy on mid-2000's dance-pop album. Hopefully the band can bounce back from this obvious misstep.
Weezer The Red Album2.5

Their first major misstep. Starts off well enough, but the fact of the matter is that if it weren't for the middle three songs (Death of Me, Hallucinations, and Old Wounds), which all came out last year, this would be a major disappointment. The non-singles just can't do anything interesting to stay on par with everything else, aside from maybe January Rain.

A combination of two mediocre EPs - that were already difficult to get through on their own. This has some of the worst songwriting in the genre, and it's just so boring and uninspired. If you've heard any post-hardcore band from the 2010's that have nose-dived in recent years, then you'll know what you're in for.

Even with me trying to be nice, this album's a chore to finish. Uses every overdone idea from the early 2010's metalcore/post-hardcore scene, but doesn't add anything new or interesting. Maybe this band would've picked up some steam had they released this in 2011 or something.

A very repetitive, boring album from a band that once showed decent potential. This has some of the most boring instrumentation I've heard in a long time, and every song has some word or phrase that's repeated in the chorus over and over and over again. I wanted to at least enjoy it a little, but even the songwriting is boring and cheesy throughout the whole album.

Yeesh, this album is a mess. It's like they took the few things that they're last two albums got right and replaced them with all the things they're last few albums got wrong. Not one song is memorable in any good way, and this can't help but feel like a waste of talent for Patrick Stump, who still remains a great singer through all this.

Certainly not a bad album by any means, but my goodness this is a step down from their stellar debut. The ferocity and edge of their first album has almost all been replaced by generic-sounding hard rock that any other band could have done. The saving grace for this album is that at least it's hard rock that's pretty fun to listen to.
