Listening through the album now, seems pretty damn solid. |
Dead by April Incomparable | 1.5 |
Listening through the album right now, they said it was going to be heavier. Fucking liars. More poppy than ever... I'm not even sure if I'd say the songwriting is better, maybe worse. Really stupid keyboard effects in every song, and screaming is as good as gone. |

Approvement, much more catchy songs, but the clean vocals really does get kinda boring and annoying. |

Good to hear the core members of Sonic Syndicate back together again! It follows the same sound as Sonic used to, so it's nothing new they are bringing to the table, but still pretty damn good.r"Green Eyed Demon" is a decent track, not one of their best though, get's a bit boring for my taste. 3/5r"Pathfinder" on the other hand is Sonic Syndicate returning to form at their best! Catchy keyboards, brutal and agressive vocals and a slower melodic master piece chorus. It even features a quite well fulled off solo, which is something new for these guys! 5/5 |

Sum 41 Screaming Bloody Murder | 3.5 |
So what happens when Sum 41 FINALLY leaves behind their ever going success of "Fat Lip" and tries to write something completely different and new? Screaming Bloody Murder happens! It features a much more mature and darker version of Sum 41 that we've NEVER seen before. Is this a good thing though? I've always enjoyed the rebelling high school Sum 41, but the ice was getting rather thin for my taste. I mean, how long can you surf on the same wave? Screaming Bloody Murder is a really good album. Strong song writing and really impressive and improved vocals, although I agree with critics that the songs "Holy Image of Lies", "Sick of Everyone" and "Happiness Machine" might sound a bit of the same mash if you randomly are listening though the album and not paying attention to the track listing. All in all it's a really good album, sometimes the album might get a bit boring for those who can't stand an album that stays true to one tune and style. Although if we look on each track we see a new and stronger Sum 41 with better and stronger songwriting! Who would have though we would ever see a post-highschool Sum 41? |
Amon Amarth Surtur Rising | 4.0 |
Rise Against Endgame | 3.0 |
After listening to "Help is On the Way", I though this album could be good. I mean, it was catchy, good instruments, awesome vocals, even a SCREAM. To be honest, that's about the only really good song on it. OK, maybe I was a bit harsh saying that. But let's be fair: this album is like if they found one song, and made a whole bunch others out of the same song. Gah, I really had too high hopes for this release. |
Funeral for a Friend Welcome Home Armageddon | 4.0 |
Children of Bodom Relentless Reckless Forever | 2.0 |
Trust Company Dreaming In Black and White | 2.5 |
As far as music is concerned, this album actually brought something new to the table from this band. Sure, it's all the same hard-soft-catchy-angry TRUSTcompany that we're used to, but the dueling guitars is for example and nice touch to make the album more exciting. Unfortunately that's not enough... This band was never in my eyes able to pull off a full exciting album, but their debut made up for it by having 3-4 of the best nu metal songs I'd heard in a really long while. BiBaW fails at this aspect however. It has probably some moments when you might enjoy yourself, but it's brief and will most likely not even last the song out. It's good music as always, but the band sadly fails in keeping it exciting enough.rAt least we can be proud of them of being one of the only bands who aren't changing or selling out for bigger crowds? Again, that's not enough to save the album, which is really a shame for a band such as TRUSTcompany. |
Avril Lavigne Goodbye Lullaby | 3.0 |
I never thought I would see the day that Avril would leave behind the pop princess act and return to good music. Wait, what is this?! Not only most likely the best Avril Lavigne ever made? People are dissing the songwriting. Yeah, the lyrics are cheezy as FUCK, but I respect that. She's trying to write her own music and her own music for the first time. In my ears she does it quite well. Although a little change wouldn't kill it as the most of the album is done with acoustic guitars. Some more What The Hell and Smile-ish songs wouldn't hurt as long as diversity is concerned. |

Well hallo, what is this? Could this be true?! Every single song on this album is actually GOOD, I can't seem to find any fillers or anything?! I mean, besides for the disappointing change to more mainstream rock/metal and removal of Adam's killing backup vocals this album is simply filled with super great songs! Oh wait... I knew this would be too good to be true. Anyone else than me noticed that EVERY single song on this record follows the same God damned structure? Verse, half chorus, verse, full chorus, bridge, double full chorus. If this hadn't been the case, this album would have been high on my shelf, unfortunately it's not. Once I realize that I can predict what is going to happen on a album on EVERY FUCKING SONG I really lose all interests what so ever. So for just to put on a song or two, sure, super great! But as a whole fucking album this just doesn't make it for me. This is something I really didn't except from this band. Their older albums maybe hadn't too many super great songs (although the ones that were good were also REALLY good) on it, but at least I couldn't tell when the chorus was going to kick in before I'd ever heard the fucking song! |

If you're looking for a underrated band, try Acid Garden! Seriously, these guys are showing more potential than most modern rockers these days. I would strongly advice you guys to keep an eye out for them! There's a big chance they'll never come "to a store near you" as it's more of a local band from the north of Norway with no record deal or anything... but really, they need your support, and it's worth it! |

Although he doesn't put as much emotion into the songs as Jesse did, but HOLY FUCK this guy can sing! And is it better?! Hell I don't know... Really hard questions. I guess it's really just preference as they are both amazing vocalists. Howard has clearly the advantage when it comes to his range and capability which is really important to me when it comes to singers. I'm thinking like this... If Jesse never left, I would have had "Alive or Just Breathing" and "Killswitch Engage", and probably more awesome albums as well! But then I'd never heard "The End of Heartache" which along with "Alive or Just Breathing" are one of my favorite albums, so I'd say for the vocal change, Killswitch chose the perfect timing. People weren't bored of Jesse, but I think they really used him to the limit on "Alive or Just Breathing", and I only think it would have gone down hill from there... Of course, that's just speculations and might have been bull**** for all I know. |
