They have a formula, it's a good formula and they do it right, but it's time to think about

Definitely their worst efort to date. Still have some great tracks (PYMOM, WDDL) and some
renjoyable ones (Electric Blue, s/t(although this one get's fastidious after a while)).. Some
filler and then... chemistry (don't dig that one at all.. so uninspired and repetitive.. it drags
for what feels like eternity on its 3:34 duration). WDDL prevents this from being average.
Hopefuly is their worst album ever..
(2.7) |
Manchester Orchestra A Black Mile to the Surface | 5.0 |
A grower.. on first listen, due to being so fluid from song to song, although I enjoyed it, it caused the impression that all was a big enjoyable blur. After you let it sink in and get the hang of it, it's full of superb songs and the wholeness of the album just makes it better.
It may become a 5 in time, who knows? A 4.5 at the moment.
Edit : well, it's a 5. |

At the Drive-In in•ter a•li•a | 4.0 |
A great return album. If you were expecting that the band who helped change the game back in the
day would return after 17 years and change the game again, then prepare for disapointment. If you
are only looking for a new set of great post-hardcore tracks to enjoy, then you are in for a
treat. (3.9) |
Slowdive Slowdive (LP) | 4.5 |
Getting the news that Slowdive were back was, by its own, reason to rejoice, and if to that we add a new album, the expectations skyrocketed, at least for me, being Souvlaki one of my favorite albums. High expectations are hard too meet though, and it's always risky to come back 20 years later. Happily, Slowdived did met the expectations and gave us a superb record, full of walls of sound, dream-pop textures and space rock riffs. A AOTY contender.

It's Kendrick being Kendrick and releasing another quality album, although at first it seems to lack the wholeness from the previous two releases, and the beats are a less structured and textured, which can be a con or pro depending on the listener taste (a con for me, not a major con but a con nonetheless).r(4,1) |

Future Islands The Far Field | 4.0 |
They play their past strengths in new directions here, making a super solid album. It takes a few runs to appreciate the richness of textures the tunes have, with the risk of sounding a little samey at first listen.r(4.3) |

'Knife in the Safe Room' it's a kick in the front door that sets the mood for the album, what a
energetic banger. The riffs are on point on this one. A little more melodic parts like on Deliver
Us(but that is a matter of taste really) and it could be a step higher. Great great album tho.

Minus the Bear VOIDS | 3.0 |
The album is composed mostly by 'filler' songs (Minus the Bear 'filler' isn't bad per
se) . Not terrible but kinda bland. (3) |

Hooks for days, heartfelt lyrics, good melody.. excellent album. And a grower too, as it didn't grab me immediately. r(3.5) |
