Not quite on par with The Documentary 2. Nothing here really compares to 100, New York New York, On Me, Mula, or Documentary 2's title track. Still a solid album to close off The Game's incredible run in 2015 (definitely one of the best years ever for a prolific rapper).

This shit's hot trash. None of the remixes hold a wicker to the originals. Even the DJ Premier

A lot of people credit Viper with originating the cloud rap and vaporwave aesthetic. But, essentially the same style of music was being recorded by Odd Future between 2007 and 2008. The production on here is incredibly lofi, subdued, and nostalgic. It's an acquired taste more than anything, but also an interesting presage of what was to come from the OF clan.

Three 6 Mafia Underground Vol. 1: 1991-19945.0
Pure sonic bliss. Three 6's demented, stream-of-conscious rapping coupled with atmospheric, cloudy production makes for an enthralling listen. Three 6 fathered (well, more like grandfathered) the modern styles found in Soundcloud rap, mumble rap, and the more recent atmospheric trap that has rose to popularity since the early-mid 2010s. So many of these songs would sound new if released today, let alone at the time of their recording (1991-1993).

De La Soul Clear Lake Audiotorium3.5
Peanut Butter Wolf Peanut Butter Breaks5.0
Nowadays, Peanut Butter Wolf is better known as the founder of iconic indie hip hop label, Stones Throw Records. But back in the early 1990s, he churned out amazingly prescient instrumental albums like 1994's Peanut Butter Breaks. This very much feels like a close ancestor to Endtroducing... sharing a similar penchant for multi-layered sampling as well as a common downtempo ambiance. While consistently stellar from start to finish, the clear highlight is Currents, simply one of the finest pieces of instrumental hip hop ever made.
