I'm hardly a quarter way through this double album... If you enjoyed Dead Cities and Before the Dawn Heals Us, but found Saturdays to be insufficient or spotty... jump for joy. |

Factory of Faith - AKT-SCHOO-WHOULLLY AHHHHHH... Look Around - LOOOOOGUHROWWWN x infinity... This album is flawed, and unfortunately, most of the blame can be attributed to Anthony Kiedis. That being said, I do enjoy Ethiopia and Police Station. |

On the surface, this album has low production value. Dig deeper, and the song writing is
clearly the worst of their discography. The Vines are exhausted. They sound like Green Day
on sedatives here. Songs I never want to hear again: Gimme Love, Candy Flippin' Girl, All
That You Do, Outro |

On first listen: This is coming off as a throwback to 80's synths and treated drums. I am only half-way rthrough, but the raw "garage-rock" appeal that made Is This It and (to a lesser degree) Room on Fire so rendearing seems present solely in Under Cover of Darkness. The instrumentation is more complex, runnerving, and at times, bewildering. Track 5 is a strong point, but I'm preferring Phrazes for the Young to this right rnow.rEdit: I'm finished. I'm dissapointed. I'm a huge fan. Bottom Line? Room on Fire was fun. Is This It was light and rbouncy. First Impressions of Earth was darker, and Electricityscape and everything before it were progressive. The last rfew tracks were shit.rAngles is not a fun listen. It wears on my patience. It does not have the bounce hooks or memorable melodies. Hoping rit will grow. Someday...rEDIT: It's growing.... |
