A catchy but hugely pretentious album whose watered-down pop/arena rock sound has been manufactured for one purpose: Singles, singles, singles. Still, not quite as dismal as MtM.American Hi-Fi Fight The Frequency3.5Jedward Planet Jedward1.0Equilibrium Rekreatur3.5The new album is, quite honestly, a bit disappointing. Basically it sounds like Sagas part 2 minus anything new. Needless to say it's still a thoroughly enjoyable album with plenty of frantic instrumental passages, though it feels a bit vapid at times, with fewer quiet moments than Sagas. Overall a decent release, but Equilibrium set the bar too high with their last album. I just hope this doesn't mean they're stuck in a rut.Sick of It All Based on a True Story4.0The Dillinger Escape Plan Option Paralysis5.0Alkaline Trio This Addiction2.5Uzbeks Goggles and Flipflops4.0Lostprophets The Betrayed3.52009 Napalm Death Time Waits for No Slave4.5Coalesce OX EP4.0Scar Symmetry Dark Matter Dimensions3.5Between the Buried and Me The Great Misdirect3.0Converge Axe to Fall4.5Diablo Swing Orchestra Sing-Along Songs for the Damned & Delirious3.0Megadeth Endgame4.5Billy Talent Billy Talent III2.0brokeNCYDE I'm Not a Fan, but the Kids Like It!1.0Coalesce OX4.0Green Day 21st Century Breakdown2.0Agoraphobic Nosebleed Agorapocalypse3.5Propagandhi Supporting Caste4.0Cannibal Corpse Evisceration Plague2.5Apoptygma Berzerk Rocket Science2.0Tribulation The Horror3.52008 Fall Out Boy Folie a Deux2.5Weezer Christmas with Weezer1.0Nickelback Dark Horse1.0OPM Golden State of Mind3.5Equilibrium Sagas4.0Shinedown The Sound of Madness3.5Scar Symmetry Holographic Universe4.0Weezer The Red Album (Deluxe Edition)3.0Feeder Silent Cry4.0Weezer The Red Album3.0In Flames A Sense of Purpose2.0Meshuggah obZen4.0Arghoslent Hornets of the Pogrom5.0Simple Plan Simple Plan1.5Protest the Hero Fortress4.02007 The December Sound The Silver Album4.5The Ocean Precambrian5.0A Wilhelm Scream Career Suicide4.5Between the Buried and Me Colors4.0Brown Brigade In the Mouth of Badd(d)ness3.0Blotted Science The Machinations of Dementia4.5Benighted Icon4.0The Riverboat Gamblers To the Confusion of Our Enemies3.0Sum 41 Underclass Hero3.0Being a Sum 41 fan from the very beginning, I awaited their new album with great anticipation. I had actually heard Underclass Hero and March Of The Dogs weeks before the album was released and loved them, which raised my expectations even further. When I finallly went and bought the album and listened to it, I was slightly disappointed. I got the faint feeling that I'd heard similar stuff somewhere before. After listening to it a couple more times, I decided that the similarity to previous tracks was unimportant, and that ultimately, this is a pretty decent pop-punk album that doesn't try to be anything more than it is. Highlights include the singles Underclass Hero and Walking Disaster, but Count Your Last Blessings, Speak Of The Devil and King of Condratiction are also excellent tracks, delivering exactly what people have come to love about Sum 41. I think Chuck and All Killer No Filler are both slightly better, but this is still a more-than-welcome addition to their repetoire of pop-punk.Bad Religion New Maps of Hell3.5Paramore Riot!2.0Tokio Hotel Scream1.0Having lived in Germany for some time, I have had the opportunity to experience a plethora of European bands, and I must say, this attempt at an international release is one of the most horrendous atrocities I have ever had the misfortune to hear. Their alleged army of ghost writers and producers have done an even poorer job adapting and translating the songs into English than the talentless 3 boys (and girl) have done performing them (which is saying something). All in all, this "album" is a laughable adolescent farce from start to finish, focusing on today's unhealthy modern ideals of borderline androgeny and glamour rather than anything remotely musical. And to think they come from the same country as Equilibrium...Linkin Park Minutes to Midnight2.0Ensiferum Victory Songs3.5Avril Lavigne The Best Damn Thing2.5Dark Tranquillity Fiction4.0Chimaira Resurrection3.5Fall Out Boy Infinity on High3.02006 Audioslave Revelations2.5Towers of London Blood, Sweat and Towers2.0OPM California Poppy3.5Billy Talent Billy Talent II3.5Underoath Define the Great Line3.5Deicide The Stench of Redemption4.0Angels and Airwaves We Don't Need to Whisper2.5Feeder The Singles4.0Scar Symmetry Pitch Black Progress4.0Sick of It All Death to Tyrants3.5Cannibal Corpse Kill4.0The Lawrence Arms Oh! I know lots of people automatically connect the pop-punk genre with the antics of Good Charlotte and co, but to compare this album to them is just wrong! This energetic, action-packed album simply spits in your face and walks off defiantly, which is not a bad thing! It is longer than "Half Hour Of Power", the Sums' debut offering, and not as repetitive as the newer "Does This Looks Infected?". Highlights include the singles Fat Lip, Motivation and In Too Deep, but Handle This and the fantastic Pain For Pleasure are also great. There are a couple of weaker songs like Crazy Amanda Bunkface and Never Wake Up, but the better tracks outweigh them by miles. Oh, excellent intro, too! In short: this album misses the threshold of snotty, defiant pop-punk perfection by less than a millimetre (yes, I'm British). Less zany and breakneck than a Cardiacs album, but all of Tim's trademark creativity and energy is still here in buckets. The beautiful melodies and dense, addictive chord progressions are born of a unique mind, and give me hope that one day we will have another songwriter/composer who can deliver so many ideas and emotions in such a tight, compelling package.1994 Weezer Weezer4.0Cannibal Corpse The Bleeding3.5Green Day Dookie3.0Mayhem De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas3.5Burzum Hvis Lyset Tar Oss4.0Del Tha Funkee Homosapien No Need For Alarm3.51993 Wu-Tang Clan Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)4.0Souls of Mischief 93 'til Infinity4.0Carcass Heartwork4.5Cypress Hill Black Sunday4.01992 Ice Cube The Predator3.5Rage Against the Machine Rage Against the Machine4.5Cannibal Corpse Tomb of the Mutilated4.0Da Lench Mob Guerillas in tha Mist4.0Beastie Boys Check Your Head4.0Bad Religion Generator4.5The Pharcyde Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde4.0Cardiacs Heaven Born and Ever Bright4.51991 Ice Cube Death Certificate4.0My Bloody Valentine Loveless5.0Cardiacs Songs for Ships and Irons4.0Atheist Unquestionable Presence4.5Del Tha Funkee Homosapien I Wish My Brother George Was Here4.0Cardiacs Day is Gone4.51990 Bad Religion Against the Grain5.0Ice Cube AmeriKKKa's Most Wanted4.01989 Bad Religion No Control5.0Cardiacs On Land and in the Sea5.01988 Bad Religion Suffer4.0N.W.A.
