It is hard to say all the good things this band does. Excellent musicianship all around, and they're fronted by a powerful vocalist. Their songs convey a lot of emotion, from the guitar solos to the haunting vocals, and to the strings and piano that are used sparingly throughout the album. Excellent songwriting as well, whether it's the heavier songs like "Nothing Sacred," the acoustic songs such as "Begginnings," or the hauntingly beautiful songs such as "Stare," Memento manages to keep things interesting. This is evident on the album's closer, the thirteen-minute epic, "Figure 8" which contains acoustic guitars, piano, guitar solos, and even a cello solo and they manage to fit all of that together so well you won't realize the song you're listening to is nearly thirteen minutes long |
