Alice in Chains Dirt
At the Drive-In Relationship of Command
One of the defining moments of modern progressive guitar hero Omar Rodriguez Lopez's prestigious, awe
inspiringly diverse career. Relation of Command is a heart-felt, emotional roller-coaster, an album that is
both of substance as well as character and is by all means essential listening. |
Beastie Boys Paul's Boutique
Black Sabbath Black Sabbath
Buckethead 13 Days Til Halloween: Maple Syrup
Camel Mirage
An absolute blast of an album. It's comparable to every essential progressive release and while Camel would go on to put out more varied, arguably more complex and sophisticated music, none of their subsequent releases would rival Mirage.
Camel Moonmadness
Camel Camel
Cryptopsy None So Vile
Cynic Focus
A masterpiece of rhythmic complexity and clever song construction, Focus stands virtually alone as one of the
most endearing, timeless and original releases of progressive music during its era. The somewhat notoriously
skittish production may throw off the more polished ear upon initial listen but patience will surely reap reward. |

Judas Priest Painkiller
Judas Priest Sad Wings Of Destiny
Arguably the most captivating and cohesive collection of songs the legendary Judas Priest has put forth in its impressively prolific and prolonged career. Tracks such as "Victim of Changes" and "Tyrants" stand atop a coveted arch of metal classics, mixing sometimes abstract and progressive song structures with awe-inducing vocal climaxes at every turn. Most importantly, Sad Wings of Destiny just plain feels good to listen to. A classic among classics.
Kendrick Lamar good kid, m.A.A.d city
King Crimson In the Court of the Crimson King
An obvious classic. In the Court of the Crimson King will forever stand the test of time as one of the quintessential albums in prog lore, a defining slab of cohesive art made only more important by it's arguably incomparable influece.

Steely Dan Aja
Audio engineering and aural serenity at it's unrivaled best. Aja is generally more straightforward than any of Steely Dan's pre or post offerings but repeated listens reveal truly decadent cohesion of complex layers that combine to form an album that arguably exceeds the lofty reputation handed upon it. It's also probably your dads favorite vinyl.

Deftones Around the Fur
Deftones Deftones
Deftones Diamond Eyes
Deftones Koi No Yokan
Several shining stars aren't enough to cover up what is essentially a gaping hole of dreary abyss. Koi No rYokan finds the post-hardcore-emo-whateverthefuck giants, Deftones achieving songwriting perfection in rall the right places, if only for brief instances. While it does contain some of the bands finer moments it just risn't enough to live up to the enormity of hype it's more accomplished older brother "Diamond Eyes" created. rCheck out Leathers, Ghost, Rosemary and Tempest.
Devin Townsend Physicist
It's not Deving Townsend at his best, but it is a noble effort which contains some of his better heavy tracks, Namaste, Irish Maiden, and Jupiter for example.
The vocal recording quality leaves a little to be desired as they are not up near up to the standards set by his earlier albums. Give it time, a couple of listens, and you will find deep joy out of this album. Kingdom is fucking sexy also. |
