I?ve spent some time with the album since its release and I completely understand when people say that it?s not
groundbreaking or pushing any boundaries. However, I feel like the negative connotation attached to that is
unwarranted. We saw a relative flop when ?Gore? was released, for its experimental nature and odd production choices.
Deftones yet again released a more challenging and less ?commercial? album with ?Ohms? and although a fantastic
release in its own right, it did split the crowd somewhat. As a result I think that Private Music serves as a superbly
executed break for the fans, where they don?t necessarily want to be challenged and just want to enjoy the music for
the very reasons they fell in love with the band in the first place. TL;DR - There will always be people that find issues and
get salty with the way general consensus plays out. Just enjoy the ride.

It’s exactly the stony slowcore plod that makes this work enjoyable. As an album, it sounds great and
is arranged very nicely. Could it be more diverse? Probably. Does it need to be? I’m not so sure…

When issue is had with the genre tropes that are inevitable with the artistic direction that the band has chosen, I would
suggest that it’s not a case of being a bad album, more a general dislike for the genre itself.
Hundredth Somewhere Nowhere
Spent time listening to the album for what it is. Although is still prefer the EP and their previous album, I really enjoy to direction that the band has moved into. Would just really prefer more songs like "Whatever" and "Iridescent".
Hundredth Faded Splendor
I really enjoyed the singles but was hoping that the rest of the album would
match the tone of Blitz and Waste a bit closer. The record is still lots of fun imo with some cool stand outs (Curve/Big
Love) and definitely worth diving in.
There’s something frustrating about the fact that half the album was released in the lead up
to the full body of songs, which takes the wind out of its sails somewhat. Would be nice if Sputnik allowed more
specific ratings (cough cough…) as I’d give Faded Splendor 3.7 at least, rather than the pigeonholed 3.5.

I like the tone of this album as a whole. The concept of melancholic soundscapes, mixed with lo-fi "emo-esque" dreampop holds up well in my opinion. However, as much as I'm drawn in by the swirling ambience, I do find the vocals a quite grating and underproduced in comparison to the instrumentals.

Microwave Let’s Start Degeneracy
Too many non-songs, build-ups to nothing and tracks released in 2022. Also, pretty cheeky to call it a new album, when
it’s really just an extended EP. The Microwave DNA is still clearly there and there are some cool moments, but it’s just
too ploddy for me. Better luck in 2029 for the next album!
