It's crazy to listen to an album that was supposed to be released almost 20 years ago and more importantly was meant to be the band's breakthrough release. And it really could have been, although I don't think it will have too much impact now. Bar Fly, Trip, War Flower, Noise Field, Build a Hole, Reverse Angel and Flang are some of the best songs the band has ever released. R.I.P. Ben McMillan |

Rising (DK) Oceans Into Their Graves |
Rising is a sludge metal group from Denmark. This band sounds kind of similar to Mastodon and Baroness, maybe a bit less proggy and more epic (in an Iron Maiden way). On this third album, I think they found the perfect balance between heavy-as-two-hells sludge metal and epic melodies. Tracks "All Dirt", "Old Jealousy", "The Anger" and "Death Of A Giant" are the album standouts. So, if you like bands like Mastodon, Baroness, Gojira, Crowbar, Black Tusk, Anciients, Kylesa etc. give this album a listen, you won't regret it. |
