| Probably her best and most cohesive effort yet. The usual Florence with her over-the-top antics is suspiciously gone and replaced with someone far more experienced and, in a way, tired. It's still an album filled with her trademark soaring vocals and epic song climaxes but unlike her previous releases, she gives herself some room to breathe and in doing so produces some of the most emotional moments of her career (see: Grace and The End of Love). Overall, High as Hope is a delightful, tightly-packed experience which proves that Florence isn't a one-trick pony. Definitely excited for her future records! |
