A powerhouse of an achievement; the band has matured to an unbelievable extent and delivers an album that is quietly magnificent. One of the year's best.

The Dodos continue to be everything everyone wants of them. Which is perfectly fine (you love this album? super!) but has there been a band in recent memory more poised for fucking greatness that just won't do it? Another solid album, but Visiter this is not. I doubt the Dodos have it in them anymore. We get a lot of what we're used to, a little of what we're not (violins, guitar solos), and then more of both. The problem with No Color is that it splashes too many colors at once, and the whole bloody mess ends up brown. Gross.

Don't let it's quiet intimacy fool you; 'No Color' is an unassuming powerhouse of raging drums and thrashing
guitars that rocks the house the way the band always has, but in a different way - the sporadic imagination of
'Visiter' has been focused and the over-produced tightness of 'Time to Die' has been loosened, arriving at a
place that can only be called one thing: maturation.

'No Color' is an extremely apt album name. I've seen more color in black and white movies than I hear in this album. It seems uninspired and lackluster at best.

It's tough to give this an overall fantastic rating for this album, but their are several songs that are really, really, really good. Th opener, "Black Night" may be my favorite song of the year so far.
