Review Summary: pizzamachine has left the party
So my friend gifted me this game, too late for Christmas but whatever. Dethmask, Pt. 2, huh, weird title. Anyway, I played the game and these are my thoughts.
The developers went for a futuristic look here to separate themselves, but it’s so basic it just stinks. The soundtrack is also annoying, with the same headache inducing electronics and alien noises from the first game. There’s industrial music inspiration, and definitely some inspiration from Machine Girl, but inspiration can only go so far. Lone Exo was a pretty cool instrumental track I guess, but I’d rather listen to Machine Girl.
I find this game INCREDIBLY generic. This isn’t an original game at all, it’s just a clone of Brand of Sacrifice but worse. The whole sci-fi aspect is obnoxious and ugly, and I haven’t even touched the gameplay itself.
The game and soundtrack steal so many ideas from other developers that I’m calling it plagiarism. They wanted to make a game as brutal as possible, like DOOM but bloodier and grosser. I mean entrails are going everywhere like fireworks, and the blood spill from enemies is basically endless until it’s not fun anymore. It’s so damn repetitive crushing enemies until massive pools of blood form, but that’s all there is in the game, and it’s disgusting. This is what Hell must be like.
In conclusion, the game kinda sucks. It’s not terrible, but I’d definitely not recommend it to anyone. You can get the same enjoyment from old games, games that are actually fun. The original game is also much better. This game instead is a giant slog, with beasts screaming at you at top volume the entire time, and it makes me want to stab my ears out. No thank you.
Conclusion: 2.5/5 (I’m being generous)
