Review Summary: GOBLIN ENJOYMENT.

Bilmuri is really just Johnny Franck’s excuse to do whatever he damn well pleases. I mean what even is GOBLIN HOURS anyway? Is it pop? I guess. Is it post-hardcore? Yeah, kind of. I can’t even tell if it’s an EP or an LP anymore for Christ’s sake. It’s a whopping nine tracks but clocks in at a lean twenty-six minutes.

Franck’s fusion of pop and post-hardcore is so contradictory it actually shouldn’t work, and yet it does, and honestly he doesn’t give a *** anyway. At the end of the day, Johnny Franck is having fun, and he wants you to have fun too.

GOBLIN HOURS doesn’t stray too hard from the tried and true Bilmuri formula. The opening two tracks are post-hardcore romps, with breakdowns and screaming galore. The middle segment of the track list delves into dreamy synths, and eighties vibes, replete with saxophone solos. The closers deliver syncopated grooves overlaid by wandering keys and guitar solos.

Sure, it’s cheesy. Yes, it’s kind of confusing. But it’s easy listening, and that’s what matters. There isn’t a whole lot of genuinely meaningful music here, and really who cares? GOBLIN HOURS dares you to enjoy it for what it is: a Bilmuri recording, and honestly it’s really hard not to.

This grew on me, it's not as good as the last 2 releases but it still has some nice vibey appeal.

I liked it better than 400 lb back squat but that’s just me. Not as good as Eggy Pocket tho.

Hard agree. Falls somewhere in the middle of the Bilmuri catelogue for me, but still a solid album.

Solid for sure. I like some of the songs as much as anything he's made. I think he could do with cutting the features by half, as he can carry the songs alone.

They've been doing a 24 hour livestream on the band's youtube page and watching them just do improv jams has been really fun. Johnny may be the main idea man but there's some mad talent in his live band.

I also agree that this has way too many features. His voice is great, I'd prefer to hear more of it.

I kind of liked the features with female vocalists because it added a nice contrast but overall yes on cutting down on the features in general. He has a very nice voice.

Eggy and Rich Sips are seriously some of my favorite albums ever. Not sure if the formula is just getting a little repetitive but this outing did very little for me.

Also heavy agree less features more Johnny on the next.

Yeah I agree with Purpl3, each album has its own identity and sound but there are themes that are present throughout his discography.

Oh btw Purpl3 who do you play next week?

Idk I thought they were clicking pretty damned good in that Chiefs game man. Could be scary.

The Rams on the other hand need to trade the next six years of draft picks for an o-line lol

Lol I’m sorry steak!

I didn’t mind them. I don’t know if they’re like NECESSARY, but I liked them. Does that make sense?

Dude I know… such a shitshow. I thought about you actually when they lost and I was like Steak’s probably laughing right now.

I think the thing on the interludes is that the album seems like it should be a full blown LP at this point and it’s not, so it probably breaks the flow a bit. I hadn’t thought of that, but seems like most likely scenario.

Padres look hot. All that matters at this point though, is that the Astros lose.

It’s true it would make him slow down, but he’s been moving in that direction already and probably needs to just do it. It’s just that interludes on an already short track list are like. “Uh…..”

@Grey That sounds pretty shitty, specifically the payment part. Unfortunately I’m sure the full scope of whatever happened will be left unknown to us…

Also boys, I guess this is turning into an MLB playoffs thread? Idk what’s going on anymore. I HOPE THE ASTROS BURN.

Lol idk about that but I’d like to see SD take it all, tbh

Also the idea of Cleveland possibly beating the Yankees tonight tickles me pink
