High N' Dry, being their second album with the not-well-known Pete Willis, was actually a great accomplishment. The lineup:Pete Willis-Lead and rhythm guitars, Rick Allen-Drums(when he DID have two arms.),Steve Clarke-Lead and rhythm guitars, Joe Elliot-Vocals, and Rick Savage-Bass.
Let it Go-Let it go is a great opener, with lyrics that actually make sense. It's actually in my top 15 def lepp songs. Again, Let it go is a great opener like Women and Demolition Man, but the chorus does get annoying after a while.4/5
Another Hit and Run-Another classic. This song reminds me of baseball for some odd reason. This was one of the first songs I heard by def lepp, with great solos and guitar work by steve, and yes, Pete too. The lyrics are nothing special, but aren't as bad as Slang, or Now.4.5/5
High 'N' Dry(Saturday Night)-Damn this songs sucks. Definitely the worst song Def Lepp has done, in my opinion. The lyrics are about partying and drinking booze and all that jazz. Not much to say about this song, other than it sucks and is definitely one that I skip when I listen to the album.1.5/5
Bringin on the Heartbreak-A good song ruined by Mariah Carey. This is a pretty well written, slower, well thought out song. Some of Leppard's best work. Rick Savage does a good job keepin the beat(his bass line is awesome in this song), and during the chorus, the rest of the band join singing with Joe. Then again, a lot of Def Leppard songs are like that.4.5/5
Switch 625-Who knows why it's called Switch 625, but damn this is a good song, even though it's instrumental. Def Lepp do very well with instrumentals, and I think they should do more in the future. I especially enjoy the guitar work in this song. It makes you want to learn it, if you play guitar.4.5/5
You Got Me Runnin'-To me, the intro to this song takes forever. When it eventually does get into the song, it tends to drag. Every time I listen to it, I get sick of it after about a minute and a half. An average song, in my opinion.3/5
Lady Strange-Here is where the album gets back on track. The intro sort of reminds me of Bringin on the Heartbreak, but once I listened to the whole song, I realised they are almost completely different songs. This is the highlight of the album, in my opinion. I could listen to this song for a long time.5/5
On Through the Night-I've always wondered why OTTN was on High n Dry, and not on On Through the Night. This song reminds me of being out on a road trip, which was probably what def lepp wanted to remind you of. Good guitar playing, but I have heard better by Steve and Pete. OTTN is a pretty good song, though it's not very popular.4/5
Mirror, Mirror(Look into my Eyes)-This song is just another song, in my opinion. Not as bad as Slang, or High n Dry, but I usually skip this song as well. The best part is probably the bass playing, if anything.2.5/5
No No No-Damn i'm happy that this album closed great. No No No is an upbeat, faster paced song that could get you in the mood to rock out and get you pumped. I love the guitar work, and the vocals are good as well. A must listen to.4.5
Pros:
-No No No
-The guitar work
-Lady Strange
Cons:
-Pete Willis
-High N Dry(Saturday Night)
-Mirror, Mirror
