Review Summary: Superb Progressive Trance from a French master!
Frenchman, Vincent Villuis recording as Aes Dana created this phenomenal ’09 EM LP that takes the Tribal style [of Roach and Rich] and spins it surreal like which then presents the listener with an otherworldly aural listen. Remastered and re-released in 2015 in both 16 & 24-bit formats, the beauty of this LP is the nuanced voices beneath the forward mixed elements to bring about an incredible depth or imbued dimensionality. Standout tracks are Alignment, Lysistrata and Leylines. Deeply resonate bass lines are a special treat for those liking a rich bottom end EM recording without it becoming so pronounced your kidneys quit on ya. Here's my suggestion: Very accessible via subscription streaming, and Bandcamp sampling. Again, the pricing is very generous. So, while Aes Dana’s releases might grow on you as a bit redundant, there is enough variation between recordings to make the interchange easy. Just imagine sitting in his studio as he composes his music. If only I had the money (and talent) to be this creative! I’ll close by adding a quote from the Ultimae (Bandcamp) page… “For those who believe in them, Leylines are invisible lines of forces that connect centers of geomagnetic power to one another." Throughout the album, the artist (Aes Dana) builds upon the concept of connections that exist between various musical genres and influences, interlinks between the elements surrounding us, the feelings of life.
