Review Summary: I dj0n't even like djent but this is fly as heck meng.
Codex's debut EP comes out this summer, but none y'all know who they is so quick overview: some of them used to be in a Darkest Hour as *** metalcore band called Sacred Serenity, but then they had a couple of line up changes and now they're playing breakdowny stuff under the new moniker. It's illin, if you're in PA go and see them, seriously dudes are illin. Like, this ***'s ill.
Anyway Delusions is a solid 20 minutes of breakdowns flying through space, or maybe its breakdowns falling from space, I'm not entirely sure, but I am sure that this has me moshing. Listening to this, I feel like Bombman must have felt when he gets to the space station in Bombman 64, only instead of throwing bombs I'm spinkicking the *** out of robots that may or may not be sentient (does anybody know? I would feel really bad crowdkilling sentient robot beings because imo that's really cool, kind of like the future of intelligent life you know?). There's a lot of low end, which is brutal you know. It keeps the bros windmilling, and the patterns keep the nerds counting or whatever nerds do, idk I'm just moshing. Like, middle of Delusions (probably the most mosh song on the EP) my mom walks in my room asking me if I have any plans for the weekend and I *** you not, I almost kicked her in the face AGAIN. I really need to lock my doors when I'm getting ready to review something. But for real these dudes shred, it's like a sci-fi symphony where droids are like fighting in space or whatever, only it's not horrible nerd *** like Nocturnus. And these droids pick up change and throw it at each other instead of shooting lasers at each other, because they're actually interstellar mosh crews fighting over the most brutal asteroid barreling through space to riddle the earth with mosh riffs from the lower 5th dimension. Pat's vocals are really cool.
If you're looking to mosh with the spacedogs, check this *** out. If you get dj0wn check this out. If you're a homie check this out. I'm moshing. Yr moshin. We all moshin. Mosh. Check out the preview video I'm linking in the comments.
