the album morning view is to me a chilled out masterpiece a 'growing up' of incubus, the first real cry of we'll change on the drop of a dime and not look back once while doin it....and i believe that did just that.
brandon boyd-vocals
dirk lance-bass
jose pasillas-drums
mike einziger-guitar
dj kilmore-turntables
they recorded this album in a beautiful house in malibu and decided to name the album after the street which it was on
NICE TO KNOW YOU-a great album start off with the odd sounds of the phase and flange of the guitar then the thumping of the bass and drums as the intro begins the riff in this song is cool...a little off time with some "cliff hangers" and a great drum n bass verse, the pre chorus is cool to i really dig the lyrics. the bridge is trippy and i little resemblant to some zeppelin then goes back into the chorus and ends quite abruptly.
CIRCLES-a very differnt kind of song for incubus the first rell riff driven song i think...reminds a little of some rage against the machine but then that all go aways with the chaos that goes on in the verse with a descending run on the guitar....the lyrics deal with reciprocity (do unto others as you want done to you)
catchy ass chorus, they chill it out oin the bridge with 4-5 different single chords and dj kil putting some weird flutes into the mix then go back into the sonic boom of a pre chorus then back into the chorus and main riff through out the song
WISH YOU WERE HERE-sappy trippy little diddy i dont care too much for this song. its no doubt a good song but i skip it 80% of the time
JUST A PHASE-in my opinion the stand out song of the cd, (besides aqueous transmission)it starts out with weird sound effects at first but it works, the guitar in this song is just perfect the playing, the chords he uses....i could've gone without brandons 'ooohhss and aaahhsss' but he was learning how to sing real beautifully to the bands music and experimenting it out....i like this song cuz it talks about everything in this world is juat a phase no matter what it be....we exploit anything and everything...after the intro it goes to real chill verse but then the chorus is nothing but a build up the first time and then gets to the climax then goes straight back into the chilled chorus...they got me so good the first time i was listening to this song.....but pretty much goes back to the verse then chorus
BLOOD ON THE GROUND-this is great "*** you" song anytime i get pissed at work, or at my girl or anything i put on this song it just soothes me out ....i love this whole song its almost rap like in the verses and the chorus kinda reminds me of nowhere fast in a sense
MEXICO-the first strictly acoustic song, its a good one, it speaks of you saw this happening to me but you couldnt give 2 ***s hence the "you only think about yourself" chorus, its such a nice movie-esque thought of gettin up and moving to mexico to just get away
WARNING!-another skipper easy easy song that i felt was just put together musically...lyrically i dig the message but in all its been done before from others
ECHO-this song reminds me of stellar as far as the guitar goes, its a fast paced low volume song...jose is going off if you listen...theres a cool guitar solo that he uses a super shifter to get a harmonic sound out of every note that i thought was bad ass, overall a sweet little love song to make love to on sunday morning
HAVE YOU EVER?-the song scares me everytime when it comes on its fast its punchy i like it...i say its swell..i dig the lyrics but still cliche...'have you ever tried to step in my shoes?" he asks us..maybe i have brandon...this song is ok but i listen to it
ARE YOU IN?-wheres the blunt? this song is my fav on the album its chill, its feel good and the beat is solid, the bass line is the soul reason why ben kenney is bunk to dirk lance and its the ultimate question 'are you in?'
UNDER MY UMBRELLA-the heavier song of the album just a crazy chug up and down song then goes to trippy tehno verse and i dig the braidge...overall just a tripped out song
AQUEOUS TRANSMISSION-wheres the blunt pt.2, great song mike uses a kokyu and everyone does what they supposed to do for a song like this flawless sheer creative flawlessness(<--i made that one up, im sure i'll catch *** from yall on my grammar but w/e)
overall i give this cd a 4 cuz its not perfect but pretty damn close
