Review Summary: Suicide Seasons, A very well proposed album drifting away from the deathcore genre and more in to the hardcore, with a few special guest appearancesthis album is worth listening to more than once.
Suicide Season the third installment in the discograpphy of Bring Me The Horizon.
This album i pesonally think is nothing like we've ever heard by BMTH and the vocals of Oliver Sykes arent as Death Core sounding as the last two albums though have more of a hardcore vibe to them and the songs also appear to have many more special electronic effects in them which were barely/never seen before by Bring Me The Horizon.
The album features guest appearances from vocalist JJ Peters of Deez Nuts, Sam Carter of Architects and Luis Dubuc of The Secret Handshake which all have some farely sweet sounding stuff to add to their music; This album is definetely worth listening to though some of the songs after hearing them a few times can sound very repeatetive and some of the songs can drag along and also seem a bit boring.
The first song "The Comedown" This song was probably not one of the best in the album, personally i enjoy the first minute or so of the song but after that it seems to get a bit boring and lacks some variety, though this song is also a good example of the new type of vocals Oli is now starting to put out.
"Chelsea Smile" A much better song than the first, this son seems to be a quite good song but when it first came out i listened to it a fair few times and now it just doesnt seem to be that good though if your a first time listener to this album i strongly recomend that you listen to this whole song i particularly enjoy it at 2:33 when it stops and drifts into a more soft melodic sounding riff and also the ending sounds very nice also.
Number three: "It Was Written In Blood" I would consider this by far the worst song in this album the start of the song is alright i guess but the whole song has the same sounding riff the whole time and when Oliver is screaming it sounds as if he's just repeating the same things over and over its just plain boring and takes the whole album down.
The fourth song is called "Death Breath" This song is truely brilliant though one of the things that annoyed me a bit is that the vocals Oli is screaming arent really screams he's just yelling half the time though besides that the song is very good the drumming by Matt sounds superbb and the guitarists jus keep you guessing with what they're going to throw at us next i really enjoy this song.
Football season is over include Deez Nutz Vocalist and Ex - I Killed The Prom Queen drummer JJ Peters the first half of this song wasn't the best but when JJ came in it made it worth waiting the way their two voices sounded with one another was brilliant and i couldnt possibly point out any flaws after about 50 seconds into it though the track only goes for about 2 minutes.
The intro in the song Sleep with one eye open was very brutal sounding and i think it did sound very good, but it did go for a bit too long by my ear but it actually made me jump when about 40 seconds into it Oli comes out with a big F@#K YOU!!! the song does have a very similar sounding guitar through the whole song but it does sound good so it doesnt really drag on so for all you old Bring Me The Horizon fans you will love this one.
Just the title of the song makes you think that this ones gonna be pretty ***ing brutal it's called Diamonds aren't forever it was first heard when they were touring with I Killed The Prom Queen as part of the "Say Goodbye Tour" and people were waiting for the recorded version and all this wait has been worth is because this song delivers gruesome breakdowns with marvelous scream and does not lack any variety.
The sadness will never end a song which features Sam Carter of The Architects it delivers a slight hardcore sound which Sams brilliant vocals make it a bit more softer sounding and the bridges honestly give me goose bumps, this song is melodic but hardcore though has a singer from a softer acoustic genre, who knew it would make such a good mix??
No need for introductions, I've read about you on the the back of toilet doors is bassically a song which was targeted at the female fan which Sykes had allegedly urinated on and opens up with a jazzy sound and then kicks in to a deathcore riff then Oliver screams"After everything you put me through i should have ***ing pissed on you"
Suicide Season is the final track in this long awaited album by this British Deathcore or shall i now say Hardcore/Metal and this song is very good it goes for 8 minute + but it is worth listening to all of it, it starts softer and then builds up to climax of much more hardcore sounding stuff we are used to and this song is basically everything in one it has the more melodic side of metal with the thrashy style of hardcore and then they just stop and add some special effects into the song after this they still have the eletric beat in the backround but put the rest of the instruments in and it is pure ecstacy!!!
