Release Date: 2004 | Tracklist

This album has the elements of hard rock like Guns n Roses, and the grunge style from Stone Temple Pilots. All the songs are great on this album, and, amazingly, Scott has a different voice in almost every song. He is an amazing vocalist.

1. Sucker Train Blues - This is one of the better songs on the album. Scott's vocals are quite good especially in the chorus. This song definately shows what you are about to expect for this album
10/10

2. Do it For the Kids - Another great song. Definately a hard rocker, great song overall.
10/10

3. Big Machine - In my opinion, you can really hear Stone Temple Pilots come out on this track. It is an interesting and original song. Very cool.
9.5/10

4. Illegal I Song - A great song...Matt puts some great drumming in this song. I like Scott's voice in this one. Slash puts in an interesting solo
9.5/10

5. Spectacle - Probably my least favorite on the album...which really is a statement. if this is the worst song on the album...we're in for a good album. The main riff is similar to "Fuel" by Metallica...only one string higher.
8/10

6. Fall to Pieces - I'm sure most of you have heard this one...it is a ballad, so, as usual, it is commonly played on the radio. I really enjoy this song, and it is beautiful when played live. Slash really puts a cool solo in this one.
10/10

7. Headspace - This is probably my favorite track on the album. Something must have happened in the recording process of this song, because it is quieter than every other song on the album. Either way, this one still really rocks hard, and is a good song to get up and jump around to. Slash puts an interesting and unique solo in this one.
10/10

8. Superhuman - Slash opens with a really interesting riff. I LOVE the chorus in this song, Scott puts some really cool vocals in it. Another great song
10/10

9. Set Me Free - Another one of my favorites on the album. It's fast and just awesome. It is featured on the Hulk Soundtrack. I love this song...I play it every morning cuz it really helps me wake up.
10/10

10. You Got No Right - A beautiful song. I remember at the concert, this is where Slash came out with the top hat, double neck guitar, and a cigarette. This is such a beautiful song. Scott's voice is incredible. Slash puts another great solo in this one, alot similar sounding to the one in Fall to Pieces
10/10

11. Slither - This is one of their bigger songs. It is played on the radio...i think this was the first song they released, if not it was Set Me Free. Slither is a straight ahead rock song, and really defines the album. If you liked this song, definately get this album. If you thought this song was just okay, still get this album, because most songs are better than this one. Slash puts in an amazing wah wah solo in here.
9.5/10

12. Dirty Little Thing - One of my favorite Velvet Revolver songs as well. Slash puts in an absolutely stunning solo. This song gets me pumped up, and I just love it. Scott's voice is amazing in the chorus especially.
10/10

13. Loving the Alien - Interesting song. I generally don't like when rock albums end the album with a slow song...but this definately fit. Scott really puts out with the lyrics in this one. They are very personal. There is some interesting guitar in this one. Great album closer.
10/10

Overall...if you are a fan of REAL rock and roll, definately get this album. If you like Guns n Roses or Stone Temple Pilots, definately get this album. Either way, there is a huge chance that you will love this album.
Trust me, it's worth your $15

I hate VR so very, very much. I also have to say, this review is too ass-kissing. I wouldn't give ranks that high to any album I've heard, ever. Not the Beatles, not Mozart, not anyone.

I wasn't impressed by the VR album, the only song I really liked/remember was Slither. If you take about 4 marks off each song, that might be a less biased review.

VR are good, and they do provide an interesting mix of hard rock and grunge, but is every song really above 8/10???

This is a good album, but IMO you gave the tracks too high of a rating in some cases

That album is bloody excellent but not that excellent, not quite legendary, best of 2004 by far though.

Velvet Revolver isn't as great as a lot of people claim. I'm sorry, but they lack something. Other than the fact it seems to be a giant "Fuck you" to Axl, I can't respect them.

Oddly enough, I've found myself to respect Axl more than the others. Only after hearing "Madagascar", however.

"Put the velvet revolver to their heads"

Man, that made me laugh. It wouldn't kill them, but it would humiliate.

Only thing I don't agree with vague on is putting the velvet revolver to their heads. For some reason, I think they'd write a song about a cock being put to their heads.

Or at least Scott.

it isnt anything like guns and roses, guns and roses are rock n roll, these are hard rock, proper cool music. i love this album and i think the bad are extrenely cool, i would personally give the songs around these ratings, but i can see what the other guys mean, this album isnt that amazing, ive seen them live and they were awsome, but its not that amazing album wise.

Yes, I like the album. Who cares? Wow, if you like them, good for you, if you can't stand em, you don't have to make people feel inferior. I hate how people who don't like them act like Elitists towards the fans. Of course they aren't the Led Zeppelin of the decade, but it doesn't mean that there isn't any talent.

Phew......now that i got that off my chest, I would like to say that this review wasn't good at all. There are definitely some bad songs here, and you gave everything higher than an 8. You can love the album, there isn't anything wrong with that. But seriously, you can't love every song that much. But it does take some courage to write a VR review, so kudos to you.

exactly, personally spectacle is a really annoyingly bad song and set me free and sucker train blues are the highlights of the album, thats my opinion.

you should have reviewed the album in as most unbiased way as possible otherwise the review is pointless.

This reveiw stinks.

No one can go by it as it is to biased + there is not enough info. for each song for a track-by-track reveiw.

Whoa...what a fan-based review. I heard some good things about VR. The only reason i might go out and buy the album is because it has some former members of G'N'R.
