David Thomas, the iconic lead singer of 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗨𝗯𝘂, 𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝗺𝗯𝘀 and 𝗧𝘄𝗼 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝘆𝘀, passed away this Wednesday, April 23, at the age of 71. The news was released through a statement on the band's official Facebook page, informing that the musician passed away after a "long illness" in his hometown of Brighton & Hove, in the United Kingdom. According to the statement, he was surrounded by his wife, stepdaughter and his dogs at the time of his death, with the sound of MC5 playing in the background.

David Thomas formed Pere Ubu in Cleveland, Ohio, in 1975. Although the band achieved little commercial success, its influence was enormous in underground music in the following decades, influencing styles such as art-pop, post-punk and new wave on both sides of the Atlantic Ocean.

For the history, Pere Ubu released iconic albums such as 𝗧𝗵𝗲 *𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗗𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗗𝘂𝗯 𝗛𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗣𝗶𝗰𝗻𝗶𝗰 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 and 𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘂𝗱𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱.

Reading this now for the first time.
Will always love their first 5 albums. Alas, after Song Of The Bailing Man they got poppier, much less experimental and just weren't interesting for me anymore. But I'll never stop listening to the first 5.
