Soundgarden's final music on the way 2023-04-18 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 15 Comments | The widow of the late singer-songwriter Chris Cornell and the surviving members of Soundgarden announced this Monday, April 17th, that they have settled their ongoing lawsuit, clearing the way for the band's final recordings to be released. The statement reads as follows:
"Soundgarden and Vicky Cornell, on behalf of the Estate of Chris Cornell, are happy to announce they have reached an amicable out of court resolution. The reconciliation marks a new partnership between the two parties, which will allow Soundgarden fans around the world to hear the final songs that the band and Chris were working on. The two parties are united and coming together to propel, honor and build upon Soundgarden's incredible legacy as well as Chris's indelible mark on music history - as one of the greatest songwriters and vocalists of all time."
In 2019, two years after Chris Cornell's death, Vicky Cornell began a legal battle against Soundgarden's remaining members - guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron and bassist Ben Shepherd, over the copyright to seven unreleased recordings by the band. The group argued that the music was made for a Soundgarden album and are, therefore, their property.
No details of the agreement have been disclosed.

| | | Yippee
| | | unlike their supposed peers, soundgarden's final album was actually good. Lot of good songs and riffs on that album.
| | | who had the music hostage if it wasn't them? the label?
| | | I did like King Animal enough to 3.5 it yeah
Will prob check these 7 songs out
| | | Great news, I'm craving for new Soundgarden material.
| | | wait wait wait, glad it's resolved but reading about this suit is hurting my brain, Vicky apparently claimed that there was no proof that these vocal tracks were for Soundgarden and like....why would you hold onto that take???
| | | the whole lawsuit was his wife not letting the guys finish the songs, probably wanted a bigger share of the whole thing since it would sell anyway
| | | Watching Linkin Park get that bread…
| | | finally some hype!!
| | | Alright it’s been six years, I feel for her, but this whole thing has made her come across as such a gold digger.
Literally none of the talent , just want a bigger piece of a pie that she should be glad to even be getting scraps of.
