"When reached by Pitchfork, representatives for the band Power Trip offered no comment on the California event. Late Thursday night, the band quote-tweeted the poster with one word in response: “pathetic.” The tweet has since been deleted."

Weird decision for the name but if you wanna watch some geriatrics fuckin ROCK for like 500$ here ya go fella
|
| |
nice, tool are now looped in with old man rock
|
| |
More like "Woops, I Tripped"
Amirite?
|
| |
100% did not have to use this name
|
| |
pathetic is right, they shoulda left it up
|
| |
I like how they stretch it to three days for maximum of extraction of funds
|
| |
Sponsored by AARP. Jesus Christ, this concert would have been awesome in 1994. Now, I'm not so sure.

$500? That seems low by today's standards. Ticket prices are out of control fr

BORING
|
| |
yeah im all for raising merch prices (band folk gotta eat too) but raising the price to even get in the door doesn't help anyone, it just makes music less accessible.
|
| |
Jesus Christ, this concert would have been awesome in 1994. Aweful 2023.
|

Is it really just these six bands spread over 3 days? I went to the linked site, and there's no mention of any other artists. They should have had this concert in Florida. At least the retirees could have went home at the end of each night.
|
| |
I didn't get any additional information either. It should be a similar formula to Desert Trip, did the festival have more bands than those mentioned above?
|
| |
I don't know. It just seemed odd to spread six bands over three days.
|
| |
The ultimate festival... for boomers
|
| |
This is so fucking awful from top to bottom that it's genuinely hilarious. Horrible fest name that I clicked on because I thought it was the band Power Trip. Two bands per day. ABSURD ticket prices. Get fucked

only silver lining here is ozzy performing despite announcing his retirement from touring like a month ago

Those of you who think these prices are absurd must not look at how much large acts tickets are going for in recent years. Any of these bands would cost ~$150 individually to see for below avg stand seats in a large stadium concert setting. I recently looked into getting tickets to see blink and tickets in the stands were going for at least $200 a piece (definitely not worth it imo). $600 for these 6 isn't the least bit surprising.
|
| |
Also slightly surprised by the overall negativity for this. Have seen both GNR and Metallica recently and both are still performing really strong live shows. Pretty cool to see legacy acts still at it today. Metallica specifically it felt like I was witnessing something special, 43+ years of touring is an impressive feat.

"100% did not have to use this name" [100]

Yeah. I don't think the price is bad... just everything else.
|
| |
Yeah ticket prices for this being that high are honestly understandable, these are all I’m assuming platinum recording artists other than maybe tool who I’m sure is at least gold. People are paying like 2000$ to just see Beyoncé so paying half that to see 5 legendary bands and tool isn’t really that far fetched.
|
| |
—5 legendary bands and tool —
That would have been a better festival name.
|
| |
^ Staying on theme, I previously considered saying: "Any of these bands (other than tool) would cost ~$150 individually to see for below avg stand seats in a large stadium concert setting."
|
| |
It's a ridiculous amount of money to pay for the equivalent of a senior sea cruise. Oh, wait, they are quite expensive. My mistake.
|
| |
Starting at $600, for 6 bands. Maybe worth it if you've never seen any of these bands live and have a lot of time and money to piss away and really want to rock out with a bunch of 50-80 year olds in the desert
|
| |
Well... a lot of 50 - 80 year olds probably have plenty of time and money to piss away, and probably wouldn't mind rocking out with other 50 - 80 year olds in the desert ;) They'd probably prefer the price be too prohibitively expensive for the younger generations.
|
| |
-- They'd probably prefer the price be too prohibitively expensive for the younger generations.
Yeah, because younger generations make a lot of noise, they tend to mosh below the stage, there's nothing fun in that ;-)
Unfortunately, more and more festivals have the mentioned demographic at their crosshairs for obvious ($$$€€€) reasons.
It's already the norm in Greek summer festivals, and if someone has even an inch of self-respect, he/she boycotts.
Young people in terms of age or spirit hunt for one-off concerts in small venues, communicated through word of mouth.
-- this concert would have been awesome in 1994
Guns n' Roses are playing in Athens, Greece this summer, and their concert is massively advertised in mainstream radio.
Boycotting exactly because it's not 1994, and because major concerts in Greece are mainly ripoffs.

This sounds like Burning Man

Don’t worry guys, it’s only $1600 to stand in the mosh pit. It’s never been better to be old and rich!

The ER gonna be hopping that day
Wilhelm screams and https://youtu.be/294X_1TYklg everywhere

Is it really a mosh pit if it's just a bunch of old dudes trying to stay upright on the uneven ground?
|
| |
NGL I'm psyched for this...if it's actually real.
|
| |
Sitar, you and I may be the only ones on Sputnik who would consider going to this lol
|
| |
I’d totally go for AC/DC and Ozzy if in the area and didn’t have to pay, same for Maiden. The rest, I’d skip
|
| |
friend wants me to go with him to this...we are 20 somethings from Pennsylvania lmao, i have neither the wherewithal nor desire to go to this
|
| |
@Feather, I'm sure BigHans is going to this too lol. Especially since it might be the last chance to ever see Ozzy and ACDC.
