Artificial Brain & Will Smith Part Ways 2021-09-15 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 26 Comments |
Artificial Brain have announced on their official Facebook page that vocalist Will Smith is no longer part of the band's ranks. Band's statement goes as follows:
" Today we must make the difficult announcement that we have split with our vocalist, Will, for personal reasons. Our upcoming third full length, which is currently being mixed and mastered by Colin Marston at The Thousand Caves, will be our final recording together. We are extremely proud of all of the work that we have done with Will over this past decade -- this new record most of all -- and we can't wait for you all to hear this final document of the first iteration of Artificial Brain.
We will be joined on our upcoming tour with INTER ARMA by Paulo Paguntalan (Miasmatic Necrosis, Edenic Past, Undeciphered), who has filled in extensively for the band over the years and who has also appeared on each of our full-length albums. We have the utmost trust and confidence in Paulo, and we are so grateful that he was willing to step in for these dates.
You can continue to hear Will perform with Long Island legends Afterbirth, who recently signed to Willowtip Records, as well as his newest project, Reeking Aura, who are hard at work on their debut full-length. You can also listen to him on his terrific podcast, The Heavy Hole, a show on which he conducts thoughtful and engaging interviews with important figures from extreme metal's past, present, and future. We still feel that he is one of the best vocalists in the genre, and we are truly excited to hear what he does next. We wish him luck, and would ask that you respect our privacy and his in the coming days and weeks. "

The good news is that the next album is coming and still features Will. The bad news is that the band will never be the same without him.

Didn’t know the Fresh Prince was moonlighting as a death metal vocalist. Definitely makes his stock go up for me.

Man, this is bittersweet. I'm totally excited for new Artificial Brain but Wills burps were the things of legend. Hopefully someone can fill those large shoes (he was, of, a rather large man)

That stinks. Dude is an absolute monster of a vocalist. Cool to still get his personal project and Afterbirth though. Sure those'll slap.
Hyped we're getting a new album though. LC and IH were both AOTY noms the years they came out

This is not the Artificial Brain news I was expecting damn.

Long live the gurgle overlord. He'll go on to do great things with Afterbirth, but man him being in this band was pure magic. Wish I knew why he left exactly.
Regardless, the upcoming AB album is gonna be a hard 5.
