stupid titles
can't wait
| |
Yep sounds like a godspeed you black emperor album, was expecting one of the songs to be called dicks held high 2 titans of the sky
| |
Shit yes
| |
"dicks held high 2 titans of the sky"
better than any of these titles tbh
| |
"As the heretical anarcho-punk title implies"
Don't get my hopes up like this, please.
Hopefully it's better than their last one.
| |
this album seems to have the same format as Allelujah! two 20 minute songs, and two short 6 minute songs and Allelujah was amazing. The band haven't made 20 minute songs since 2012 and before so I'm stoked to see what happens.
| |
I was actually disappointed to read that. We've had so many albums of 20 min post-rock track, followed by a drone, followed by another 20 min track followed by another drone. Was hoping they'd opt for another formula this time around. Regardless, interested to hear this one, I haven't really enjoyed their albums since Allelujah!
| |
That isn't true there's only been one album with that format. Past two albums had 7 - 14 or so minute songs and some drones and the last album had shorter songs on average
| |
this band does better in long format imo. I would have been the opposite of you and disappointed if I read that it had the same format as Luciferian Towers, which I think doesn't fit the band.
| |
I can already feel myself thinking this is just okay
| |
I mean, I'd say Asunder sort of had that format too except the two drones were in the middle. I know it was supposed to be just one long track, but still. And on Luciferian Towers, the opener and Fam/Famine were somewhat dronier cuts sandwiched between two post-rock epics. I do see your point but personally it sounds too much like more-of-the-same for the band for me
| |
Or let me put it this way: their first three albums all had drone sections but they always felt like a natural part of the experience. I haven't got that from their last three albums at all.
| |
disagree Eons, I really hella really think Slow Riot is their best
| |
god's pee: The Golden Shower
| |
i just put the connection between godspeed and god's pee together
| |
What a tragically bad album title.
| |
Tbh yeah
Come on guys just call it 'At State's End', don't try to be cute with it
| |
Slow Riot has an almost 20 minute song it though so does LYSF, and Yanqui and Allelujah, but ever since then no more 20 minute songs. Unless you count the past two albums as one long song, which again if thats the case why separate the tracks? I think this format works better for them as showcased on Allelujah but we will see.
| |
inject those track titles into my veins
inject that album title into the toilet
| |
YEEEEHAWWWWWW
| |
fuckin' stoked
| |
Will skip
| |
Bloc do you hate putting k in words unless you absolutely have to? I mean bloc likes coc seems to rhyme much better
| |
It’ll be shite
| |
I do hate doing that yes, and I also agree with zaalwe
| |
Hell yeah
| |
this is gonna be stupid as shit and i'm gonna love it
| |
Is this supposed to be a parody of shitty post-rock titles?
| |
Efrim Menuck has a piss fetish confirmed
| |
This will slay. I just know it will

| |
Ah Zak's law
| |
i haven't jammed this band since I hit 666 scrobbles on my old Last.fm account
| |
Haven’t jammed this band since Yanqui, should probably rectify that.
| |
wait I thought 'God's pee' was someone taking the mick
| |
they've called themselves that off and on since like the 90s
| |
God's Pee You!
| |
honestly thought this was banter for a hot minute
| |
Can't wait to fall asleep again
| |
"don't try to be cute with it" - Have you read the Mt. Zion titles?
"they've called themselves that off and on since like the 90s" [2]
I'm stoked, probably the most stoked i've been since their reunion. Seems like the perfect time for a Godspeed You! Black Coffee LP. Anyone happen to have an idea on who "Rockets For Mary" or "(for D.H.)" are referring to?
| |
There's no way they actually titled this G_d's Pee. Tell me this is just you guys taking the piss.
| |
I hope this one has more post-rock on it instead of drone
| |
G_d's Pee

I mean I’ll give it a shot but nothing they’ve done has really hit me in ages
| |
terrible news
| |
Pee drop
| |
pls save my year
| |
"elegiac" gives me more haunting classical/drone vibes than their previous noise pieces tho, so i'm hopeful for more string instrument-oriented ambient this time.
| |
hot take: band should have died after allelujah! and has tarnished their legacy
| |
i mean compared to the first three releases sure but in general nah they're still good records.
| |
*one minute of warbled submarine sounds*
10/10 how the fuck do they do it. Pumped
| |
people who rate albums with 1's before they comes out are lame
| |
Agreed
| |
I thought this was satire from those titles. But wooo excite
| |
people who complain about pre-release 1s are even lamer
| |
on the bandcamp page they mention theres glockenspiel on the album and ''radios'' whatever that means I assume he means they are using voice samples again because he mentions doomsday prophets, etc. idk I thought it was interesting though. who knows what we're going to get
| |
I fuckin' love glockenspiels
| |
You're all lame
| |
Okay if there's samples again I'm actually unironically hyped
| |
glockenspiels + ham radio samples ftw
| |
chumps reusing static smh
