Corelia debut finally unveiled

2020-05-12 by cloakanddagger | 28 Comments
After years of silence, progressive metal band Corelia have finally announced their debut album will see the light of day.

The album, entitled New Wilderness, has already been given to the supporters of their Indiegogo campaign, although none of the tracks have been mixed and mastered. The album will be available publicly next week. The band has also announced they will refund contributors, although to what extent is currently unknown.

The band generated controversy after raising over $30,000 on Indiegogo for New Wilderness, before then completely disappearing with almost no updates on the album's progress. The band were recently dragged out of hiding by a fake Corelia Facebook page that claimed to have the full album and threatened to release it.

It is currently unclear whether the album will ever be mixed and mastered, nor is it clear if Corelia will continue after the release of New Wilderness.

The details of the album's release can be found on here: https://www.reddit.com/r/progmetal/comments/gi2z3m/corelia_new_wilderness_album_release/

Not much replay value but it’s neat to hear the demos. Not bad for 16 tracks

Wait this story is insane. Fuck this band for trying to run with the 30k. Maybe there's something behind it, but seems sketchy. Love the troll

Update: Turns out someone ran the entire album through an AI mastering software (LANDR) to improve the sound of the album. Shame it had to be a fan who did this but I imagine this will be the highest quality we'll hear. https://www.reddit.com/r/corelia/comments/gi97y6/corelia_new_wilderness_remastered_using_ai_full/

Man I'm one of those who contributed to their campaign. Never thought this album would see the light of day after a few years. Too bad it's not mixed or mastered but it's something. It sounds pretty damn good so far.

also it’s fucking priceless that an unfinished demo sounds better than the blackest beautiful

that has to be the worst mastering job in recorded history

Honestly, I'm a bit less sour about this whole situation given that this is actually pretty fucking good; they clearly weren't half-assing it. Still handled the whole thing incredibly poorly, but it's nice to hear what they finally recorded and that they weren't just blowing smoke. Hoping this gets some kind of proper release eventually.

Comatorium.

Fuckin embarrassing. Obama was president when they gave their last update. And they give fans a messy ass unfinished album of demos.

Fucking lol

Wow, talk about a blast from the past. They're certainly demos alright, but the songwriting is still there even if this is all way too long.

Also still weird how they were more than content to give their backers literally nothing while sitting on these demos for the past five years.

Apparently they were doing their damnedest to get the album finished, but a band member left and took their recordings with them, so it wasn't possible to get a proper mix/edit. This is all hearsay, but it seems to line-up with what the band said on Facebook.

Theirs is probably the #1 long lost album I ever had, until I found the name about a year ago. And this is the next/last thing we ever hear from them.... too weird man.
