Alcest stream "Sapphire"

2019-09-27 by Fernando Alves STAFF | 60 Comments
French shoegaze band Alcest are currently streaming the official music video for "Sapphire", the second single taken from their upcoming new album Spiritual Instinct, which will be released on October 25th, via Nuclear Blast Records. The video was directed by Craig Murray.

Stream "Sapphire" video here:

Frontman Neige comments: "Here’s "Sapphire", the second single from our upcoming album Spiritual Instinct. This one was also written in a very spontaneous, liberating way and has this 80’s post-punk feel that could remind of The Cure, The Chameleons, or even our older side project Amesoeurs. Hope you guys enjoy it."

The band was rejuvenated and inspired on Kodama. Here they sound bored, apathetic and going through the motions.

Another solid single, I'm not too worried as long as they have a couple of longer songs that go somewhere on the album, which I'm sure they will as Neige has reiterated his love for the 6 song, 40 min format

This is actually great, so???? This could have easily been snuck into Kodama. Gorgeous guitar tone, lush melodies, awesome production and percussion.

Production was juuuuuust a little off for me but that wasn't my main issue with this. It was a bit standard, the cliché Alcest song if you will, but missing that one interesting, distinguishing element.

what a pleasant tune [2]
tho I agree, of the two vocal lines, one of them was super annoying to me (the one that comes in second and is mostly just in the background). I liked the first one.
Definitely too repetitive and long, but almost a good song.
