but does it still sounds like they're slowly unlearning how to plays the guitars?
|
| |
I don't know if I'll actually like this but it sure is intriguing.

| |

I don't know, from what I read yesterday, they literally must use some sort of random number generator (or roll a 20 some sided die) until they come up with a series of unique numbers, and then they use that note series (guessing fret numbers on the same string) to construct their melodies which, ya know, is unique but.. is it art?

yes

Just curious -- why would it not be?

It was more presented as a discussion topic. When left up to randomness is the work an expression of the artist, or an expression of universal chance? Or is the randomness the expression of the artist?
|
| |
Yeeeees
|

@dungeon - i would go w/option 3 but i don't necessarily think the first two would it exclude it from being art either as whatever choice was made was ultimately chosen by the artist in an attempt to pursue a specific sound. i would assume when you know music theory as well as adam, even when using randomly generated notes you would still have gist of how it would all come together

I think of it as a, huh that's interesting I don't know anyone else really doing that in metal kind of thing, but it really doesn't sound good to my ears from what I've heard. I like weird dissonant stuff, but mostly when it's used to create an uncomfortable atmosphere. This sounds like random notes played and mixed well.

jute's had to make artistic decisions regarding which parameters randomness is operating within. you can't just get a jute gyte record by throwing a D20 at a fretboard.
|
| |
isn't the dice rolling thing literally the same rumour people had about Dillinger like 15 years ago? just cause it's challenging doesn't mean it isn't music like damn
|
| |
i don't think you really need a d20 to make your music sound goofy like this when you've got a guitar with frets scattered randomly around it in the first place.

yeah it sounds like a constantly de-tuning guitar my bad ;;;)))
