Addiction's a bitch
|
| |
That really sucks but I'm glad he's seeking help
|
| |
dang, that sucks to see, wish him and the band the best for the future
|
| |
uggg bummer, saw them open for periphery around when polar similar came out and they killed it
|
| |
I was watching an in-studio video of theirs one time and I believe they were saying he was basically the riff factory when it came to writing on Wrongdoers and Polar Similar. Him getting the help and support he needs is obviously #1 priority but I'm sad that the chemistry of the band won't be quite the same.
|
| |
That sucks but I hope he gets the help he needs, alcohol abuse is a bitch and way too many people take it far too lightly.
|
| |
Hope the original guitarist comes back, he played on some interesting records, his guitar work was pretty fun, a bit derivative, though.
|
| |
So they part ways with him in a way like ''Go get help, we are here for you.'' or was it like ''Get out you fucking alcoholic!'' ?
|
| |
They did it in a supportive way, working closely with his family as well as a team of professionals in rehabilitation and counseling. The post was more so to allow fans to voice their encouragement and share their own struggles and triumphs in a way that would be supportive to Jeff.
Small excerpt:
"Jeff is an incredible musician, but more importantly he is a brother to us – and right now, we need to be his brothers before his bandmates ... In no way do we want to shame Jeff ... There is no one we would rather have on stage with us and that is exactly the reason we feel we must make this announcement ... Though losing our guitarist is unfortunate for Norma Jean, as individuals we are far more worried we will lose our brother."
|
| |
That's a hard decision for the band to make and honestly I don't know if I'd have the stones to do the same. Good for them for putting their friend's health first, especially knowing how integral he is to their sound.
|
| |
Sounds to me like he has a very supportive musical family around him and that's a huge stepping stone. Good luck to him
|
| |
gotta be one of the few core bands still going strong from that early 2000s era
|
| |
hope Jeff is able to pull through this, dude's a stellar guitarist
sounds like he has a ton of support based off the NJ post and that's a huge step in the right direction
|
| |
I'm waiting for the usual "It is not his fault that he is an addict" comments.
|
| |
Good for him.
|
| |
apparently, they're christians, the singer for this band whats his name Corey I think? seems like a nice guy, not like a lot of nutjob christians
|
| |
this sucks, they're due for a release too
|
| |
That sucks and I hope he gets the help he needs but fuck man how much longer these guys gonna stick around?
Outside of Cory this is practically a cover band now.
|
| |
Everyone left the band when Cory went full maga. Who even is in this band now? I thought Legs was their drummer now, but it seems like it's actually Cory's brother?
Sadly don't have any faith in this band going forward (no pun).
|
| |
I'm waiting for the usual "It is not his fault that he is an addict" comments.
For the most part, it ISN’T his fault.
|
| |
that fucking sucks, dude has chops for weeks. Hope he's lucky enough to afford a reputable treatment facility.
Wrongdoers is legit one of my favorite albums from the genre, one of my highest rated albums of the last 10 years. It's a masterclass in how to pace a metal album.
|
| |
Good on him to get help.
|
| |
The band will be fine. It’s not like they weren’t putting out good material before John was in the band and I’m sure they’ll find a suitable replacement. Hope John gets the help he needs
|
| |
“Everyone left the band when Cory went full maga.”
What the hell are you talking about? This?
The issue was raised by Brandan in a series of tweets on Wednesday, the singer seemingly opposing an earlier statement from Every Time I Die vocalist Keith Buckley. While Buckley said his band “doesn’t need” Trump supporters and bigots, Brandon counters that he “doesn’t give a shit who comes to our shows. #MAGA hats welcome. Hillary shirts welcome. Gay pride flags. Pentagrams. Upside down crosses.”
Cause doesn’t seem like “full maga” to me
|
| |
Okay, full maga is probably the wrong wording. Full "both sides"-ian maybe? Idk, I wasn't there, but I do know that Goose, their former drummer left because of Cory's politics (which you can read about all the time if you follow him on twitter) & the bassist with him. Goose now drums for ETID so there's that. Before them the other guitarist and last founding member left.
|
| |
Haha I was saying John I am so silly
I’m pretty sure Scottie Henry’s departure wasn’t related to politics, it was supposed to be a temporary break but it’s been like a decade now so who knows if he’ll ever come back. I would hope no one has left because of politics because I’ve met Cory and he’s a super nice dude
Also their current drummer was previously in ETID as well, in fact three different drummers have played in both bands lol
|
| |
Cory isn't a both sides-Ian, he just doesn't want people to feel ostracized for their beliefs. He's a good person. Sad about the guitarist because he absolutely slays so I'm gonna wish him the best because it'd be worse to have him OD.
|
| |
damn, Polar Similar ripped. hopefully he can get sober and rejoin the band at some point
