Compared to TA: Cool.
Otherwise: Eh...
| |
They have to pull of a Black Clouds and Silver Linings like banger of an album to pull me back.
| |
I always wanted to get into DT but sometimes I just can't stand Labrie vocals...
| |
They should call it quits
| |
DT died once Portnoy left. Just listen to Fates Warning instead, folks. They deserve a lot more attention.
| |
actually sounds good although the production is much too sterile for my tastes
| |
im willing to tease it too
| |
"DT died once Portnoy left"
Actually, no, they decreased in quality when moore quited
| |
Train of thought is terrible
| |
Sweet more cliche concepts about AI
| |
It’s got an air of Systematic Chaos to it
| |
Oh, please, no. I want some good riffs and melodies. Maybe they should just focus on these two thing for an album
| |
I wish their vocalist would leave. I always thought he was the weak link.
| |
Yea, he and the band ruined his voice over the years. His early voice was killer though.
| |
So it seems like 2018 being a great year for music is an enigma and 2019 will return to sucking
| |
Don't know if 2018 is that good tbh. It's more to the mixed side for me
| |
I think I'm in the minority when I say that Black Clouds was underwhelming but I loved Dramatic Turn of Events. Anyways, teaser sounds pretty good, but anything would sound good after The Astonishing. Brother can you hear me is legit one of the worst songs I've ever heard.
| |
The astonishing wasn't my cup of tea, it had cool moments but that's not much to say considering its so long. I enjoyed the clip, but sounds like good ol' same ol' dream theater
| |
Nothing they've released after Octavarium has managed to hook me at all tbh (the closest I got was with Black Clouds). Some good songs, some boring/bad ones, and the occasional ''Rush-like'' track (clearest example being 'The Looking Glass' off the s/t).
Still, I'll give the new album a try when it comes out, I guess...
| |
''So it seems like 2018 being a great year for music is an enigma and 2019 will return to sucking''
Sodom bruh.
| |
Not sure about the artwork, but the teaser sounds promising! Looking forward.
| |
“Dream Theater threaten to release new album”
| |
Can't wait to not listen to this.
| |
If they make more dad rock and don't let Mangini do his thing, I'm out.
| |
They are so dead without Portnoy tbh.
| |
This band haven’t released anywhere near enough albums and their album art is always a delight
| |
Distance Over Time? Really? What, was the original title Speed? Dream Theater never was really creative when it came to album names but this is probably their worst.
| |
Such a shitty band.
To clarify, such a talented group of musicians, amazing really. Horrendous whiny singer which drags the music down completely. I know this is a common opinion and critique but nonetheless. It sounds bad when they create these amazing musical moments and then that guy just whines over it in his shitty 80's hair metal style voice. Also when they get heavier, it doesn't work because James' weak voice just doesn't fit.
Oh yeah, and the lyricist sucks.
| |
Just as a reminder: Almost all members of DT contribute lyrics, most lyrics are written by Petrucci though
| |
Isn't it kind of objectively right to say though that Labrie is the least talented in the band? He always sounds like his balls are being squeezed. Hate that guy's voice. It's a shame because the band are extremely talented and skilled. It's a bit like creating a beautiful architectural masterpiece then allowing some amateur painter guy to just fuck it all up.
| |
Nice I cant wait to make a cover of it with my Berklee bros.
| |
LaBrie might be their least talented member, that's probably true so yea.
But he is/was also a talented singer who had to sing to very complex music to a little respect would be appropriate. Also I grew to like his voice over this year, even though it obviously declined at lot. His most recent live performances are unbearable though ...
| |
Band blowz.
| |
Men
| |
Men Theater
| |
"The album is described as "a return to roots" according to the band."
I lol'd
| |
Images and Men. Men of Thought. Six Degrees of inner Men. Men From A Memory. When Men and Man Unite. Octamenium. Systematic Men. Black Men & Silver Linings. A Dramatic Turn of Men. Men Theater. The Mentonishing. Distance Over Men.
Works pretty well tbh
| |
You forgot When Men and Day Unite.
| |
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha
| |
Mentropolis
| |
Black Clouds was fine but everything else, oh boy, this band is donezo
| |
No, Casivir, I actually forgot Men Into Infinity
| |
Nah, the band is great but the singer sucks. Best ''record'': A Change of Seasons. Their most beautiful song. One of the few times I feel genuine emotion in their records. I think their 1999 album 'Scenes From a Memory' is one of the most overrated albums of all time. Really really emotionless shite.
| |
Is it just me or is the sound very thin on the teaser?
| |
It's interesting to me that Labrie sounds so cool on his solo albums but manages to sound awful on Dream Theater albums
| |
lamest band
| |
I still like these guys so I’m probably gonna check this one out even if it’s not up there with their best stuff, which it probably won’t be.
| |
@kalkwiese I'd add A Change of Men/Men of Seasons to that list of yours, men.
| |
Lmaooooooooo
| |
Oh no, I forget Men of the Seasons corpse thank
| |
Surprised there's be no "Falling into Men" yet 😉
Anyway, amusing to see the sputnik hate train is out in full force for this band again after 30 seconds of music is released from an album they haven't even got the final mix on yet
| |
"DT died once Portnoy left"
DT started dying when Moore left, as someone else pointed out already. Last album I kinda liked was "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence"...2002!!
| |
Mentropolis
Bwahahahahahah
| |
Last album I kinda liked was "Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence"...2002!! [2]
Everything after that I like certain songs; love the instrumentation on BC&SL but hate the lyrics; didn't care for The Astonishing.
Not having high expectations for this but will check it out when released.
| |
the band also released U.S. tour dates with the subtitle "celebrating 20 years of scenes from a memory":

| |
i've long since lost all interest in dream theater
| |
Lost interest in men.
| |
Switch out Men of Thought with Train of Men and I'm on board. CHOO CHOO
| |
Depends on how much of a hedonist you are.
Men of Thought tbh

I'm not gonna deny the fact that they bring joy to many people.
Euthanize them.
| |
They can stop making music now
| |
Awesome. Drram Theater will always have a special place in my heart
| |
Such a dumb name
Why didnt they just call the album velocity
| |
Or speed??
| |
