New Zeal and Ardor song 2018-04-27 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 7 Comments | Experimental black metal band and spawn of 4chan, Zeal and Ardor have released a new track from their upcoming sophomore album Stranger Fruit. The album further develops the group's unique combination of black metal and African-American spirituals, and is their first album to be released on MVKA Records. With mixing by Kurt Ballou, the album features a much more potent sound than independently released Devil Is Fine

Hrmmm. Not really feeling this one.
| | | I don't think this works personally
| | | Idk I think this is the first song I've actually felt myself digging. Always been interested in this band but I'd say this is my favourite song I've heard from them so far. Not Kurt Ballou's best production, mind you.
| | | TBF he mixed it, didn't produce or master
| | | Feels a lot more concise than anything in devil is fine, but it doesn't have the same energy as songs like the t/t,
| | | "TBF he mixed it, didn't produce or master"
That would explain why, dude's often impressed me with his production in the past.
| | | I think this album's gonna be more divisive cos it's a full band now, not just one dude, and while Devil Is Fine was something groundbreaking and unique, people now have expectations on were they should go next, and the band have to feel around the different routes they can go down. They may well be on the tried and tested route of pioneering subgenre bands - innovative first album, second album struggles due to expectations and the band working out their direction, then the third sees them perfect it.
