Hypno5e Stream New Track

French post-metal pioneers HYPNO5E have always been a band that transcends the borders and limitations of not only the genre of music which is commonly considered to be their territory, but the territory of music itself.

Their conceptual, cinematic live show has historically been built upon a strong visual component... but that was just the beginning of a journey which is now reaching the next level: Alba - Les Ombres Errantes is the first full length movie directed by singer and guitar player Emmanuel Jessua. And his band, HYPNO5E, has turned down their amps, or switched them off entirely, to provide the stunning seventy-five-minute soundtrack for this ambitious project. The soundtrack to the movie, performed by HYPNO5E's acoustic alter ego band A BACKWARD GLANCE ON A TRAVEL ROAD (featuring the same members as HYPNO5E) captures the essence of a whirlwind that blurs and reunites age, dreams, and reality.

In advance if the soundtrack's April 6th release, Decibel Magazine offers up opening track, the eleven-plus minute "Who Wakes Up From This Dream Does Not Bear My Name," for public delight lauding a band that churns out, "some of the best epic soundscapes this side of the ocean. Or, technically, that side of the ocean."

Alba - Les Ombres Errantes will see release via Pelagic Records on 2xLP, CD, and digital formats. Preorders are available now. In North America visit: bit.ly/hypno5ealbaNA, in Europe go to: bit.ly/hypno5ealbaEU, in Australia go to bit.ly/hypno5ealbaAUS and for digital orders visit: bit.ly/hypno5ealbaDGTL.

Emmanuel Jessua grew up in Bolivia, where Alba - Les Ombres Errantes was filmed with a team of seven French and Bolivian volunteers, on a budget of only 22.000€. The result is a breathtaking sonic and visual journey through the otherworldly landscapes of one of the most intriguing places on earth; a journey that orbits around the memories and reflections of a man contemplating about the eternal loss of childhood.

"The idea of this movie was born in the Amazon forest, precisely in Rurenabaque, on the terrace of a small hotel on the Beni river shore," relays Jessua. "I was only ten years old and had been living with my family in Bolivia for more than five years. I was experiencing life with an incredible intensity, in a fantastic environment... with this film, I wanted to capture the constant exceeding of limits that I feel when I'm in Bolivia; the limits between the gods and the human, between sanity and madness, between the past and the present. It is in the religious and musical syncretism of the Oruro carnival (where my mother used to dance each year) that this exceeding of limits can be witnessed the best, where myth and reality mingle, and where the protagonists lose their sensation of time or space."

For those used to the technical post metal for which HYPNO5E has become known, A BACKWARD GLANCE ON A TRAVEL ROAD might come as a surprise at first: Fans of the band however are well aware that moments of folk and Latin have always been present within HYPNO5E's epic take on contemporary metal. Alba - Les Ombres Errantes is a movie, an album, and a cinematic live show in its original form soon to be seen live across theaters and stages in Europe.

HYPNO5E/A BACKWARD GLANCE ON A TRAVEL ROAD:
Emmanuel Jessua - guitar, lead vocals, charango, piano
Jonathan Maurois - guitar
Cedric Pages - bass
Theo Begue - drums

The whole album is awesome. I honestly didn't think they'd be able to pull off an all-acoustic album, but they did.

Great band, their last album was probably my aoty (Shores of the abstract line)

That being, this news article couldn't possibly have been written in a more pedantic way. Btw it seems it's not a song by the actual band hypno5e and I don't think they should be qualified as a "technical" band

Got me interested in the movie tho

Why is this track so loud? Cool song, but gets smashed to bits at 2:57.

What the fucking fuck is this? You took the time to do this whole write-up and you ruined it with sheer misinformation and a bullshit click-bait title... this is like posting an article titled 'NEW TOOL SONG' with a link to a new APC song. Kindly go fuck yourself sir.

Copy/paste from the press release bro. The band's penning it as A Hyp release... I'm not about to tell them what do do.

If that's their press release then fine, you're not to blame. That's sketchy as fuck on the band's part though.

What's sketchy? It's being released under the Hypno5e band name. I've had the promo for about a month. The press release is kind of confusing since it mentions two different band names, but it's definitely listed as Hypno5e. The promo MP3s have Hypno5e as the band name, too.

Hypno5e's last album was 2016 and as far as I can see they have no immediate plans for a follow-up. This is a side project (A Backward Glance) that feature's a couple members of the band. I read through this and it's one the most inanely misleading pieces of writing I've ever read on the site. If a Tool/APC put out a press release like this the internet would implode.

This is being presented and marketed by Hypno5e as a Hypno5e release. "ALBA - LES OMBRES ERRANTES, the new album from Hypno5e. Out April 6 2018 via Pelagic Records." I don't really see how you can argue this so hard.

Hypno5e is a prog-metal band. This album is clearly not going to be prog-metal, the promo sounds much closer to A Glance Backwards which was also confusing. I guess I'm just worried about the future of this band and hope they're not pulling an Opeth. This band's album cycles are quite long too, so if this is what were getting from Hypno5e until 2022 I'm gonna be pissed.
