Linkin Park announce memorial show

2017-09-18 by Nat S. | 57 Comments
Linkin Park has announced a tribute concert for Chester Bennington, who passed away on July 20th.

The show, billed as "Linkin Park & Friends - Celebrate Life in Honor of Chester Bennington", will take place at Los Angeles' Hollywood Bowl venue on October 27th. In a statement on their website, the band has promised "an unforgettable night of music to honor the man that touched the lives of so many around the world".

LP recently released a music video for "One More Light", the title track from their latest album, which is set to be released as a single on October 3rd.

Saw the video. I wasn't the biggest fan of their new stuff but the video was a touching memorial to the guy. Depression sucks.

I guess there'll be a long list of rock/metal and pop singers being lined up for this, such was the extent of Linkin Park's reach. And it will probably be a nice mix of singers from different backgrounds.

Honestly even before Chester died I dug their post-Meteora shit way more. Not much, but definitely more than the first two lol.

'ok really tho linkin park was not particularly memorable after meteora can we stop pretending'

Which is why, since Bennington's death, a huge amount of the professional music community have paid tribute to him, and the band's massive fan base have rallied to the cause of promoting fighting the mental illness that killed him and Chris Cornell?

You're an ignorant dick.

5.0 classic
Insane Clown Posse The Mighty Death Pop!

4.5 superb

Da Mafia 6ix 6ix Commandments

4.0 excellent

Juicy J Stay Trippy
My Chemical Romance I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love
Skrillex Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites

3.5 great
A Day To Remember For Those Who Have Heart
Elevate: I am The Ghost Eclipse Sessions
Escape the Fate Dying Is Your Latest Fashion
Escape the Fate Situations
HIM Screamworks: Love In Theory And Practice
Katy Perry Prism
My Chemical Romance Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge
My Chemical Romance Number One

Hey homer, did you knew that a day to remember, him, gerard way and juicy jay praised and have a lot of respect for chester. By the way those high ratings for ICP, katy perry, escape the fate and skrillex are laughable as shit. Remember that kid from high school who laughed every time anyone said "penis"? He probably listens to Insane Clown Posse.

Yeah, whatever your favorite band is, the chances are low that it affected even half as many lives as LP did (unless it's The Beatles or obvious stuff like that). You can say what you want about their music and I myself never really cared for it, but, like, a whole generation of music fans has come to love the medium via this band. To deny that is ignorant.

'Who the hell are these people whose lives were so profoundly affected by Linkin Park?'

Well, for starters let's acknowledge what multiple people have already stated, including myself; a MASSIVE worldwide fan base that has made them one of the biggest rock acts of their generation.

Then comes other artists listing Linkin Park as an influence to their sound, of ALL genres. A ton of artists have cited Linkin Park as an influence, and after nearly two very successful decades actively releasing material, collaborating with names both big and small, it's clear they've made their mark on the musical community.

Then comes literally the most obvious answer to "who the hell are these people whose lives were so profoundly affected?"; in 2004, Linkin Park FOUNDED Music For Relief.
Among 'profoundly affecting' lives providing relief for multiple disasters such as the Haiti earthquake, Hurricane Sandy, flooding in Pakistan and various others. Music For Relief has also assisted in reforestation efforts, raised awareness promoting renewable energy for 1.3 billion people, and conducted promotional meetings for new sustainable energy for the U.S.

So, in answer to your question, quite a fucking few.
