They're just so lifeless. Dull. Boring. They were never good but at least ascendancy and shogun had their moments.
|
| |
Not good. The last track had a shogun feel and this is like business as usual.
Only good thing here is the new drummer spices things up a little.
P.S Why does Corey always look like he has just stepped out of the shower? Is his hair just really fucking greasy?
|
| |
What a terrible song
|
| |
What a terrible band
|
| |
Power rock wooweee 5/5
|
| |
Atrocious single
|
| |
God damn their vocalist is awful
|
| |
Band has always been shit but this is heading into deeper shit levels.
|
| |
12yo-15yo me loves their first few albums, they kept getting worse after Shogun, now theyre just... idk mainstream metal/hard rock robots who are so out of touch
|
| |
I will defend both Ascendancy and Shogun against all detractors. Haven't even bothered to listen to anything after In Waves tho.
|
| |
That first song from this was actually pretty good wtf happened
|
| |
what is it about vocalists of washed up metalcore bands that make them get hard-ons for becoming chad kroeger clones
|
| |
uhhhhh.....i don't even know what to say after listening to half of this song....
...anyway...trivium was only okay on their first album. how did they get so far?
|
| |
It even sounds like their lyrics are a shot at those who want them to go back to shogun.
Lyrics about samurai and songs in 5/4 are badass, just pls make another shogun guys
|
| |
It's like they wrote this song as a dig at everyone hating on their stylistic change, which is kinda cool I guess. I just wish they put more effort into it musically.
That being said, to deny that they had their own sound and made valiant efforts on Shogun and Ascendancy is silly.
|
| |
I think that is the problem with them, though. They have never really had their own sound until they hit In Waves and by then, they had streamlined it so much so that it was bearly recognizable as them. We all know they are talented musicians but they never really capitalized on it; instead, they chased the songwriting wave and in the process lost an individual sound.
Ascendancy was generic, very of the time, but well executed.
Crusade was a step in the right direction, they pushed themselves to make something unique. And Matt had every right to say that every other band was screaming at the time which why they didn't do it. Fair call.
Shogun was where they hit the sweet spot. The songwriting and technical ability were equally matched and they produced an album they should be very proud of.
In Waves and Vengeance Falls (and even Silence) was where they lost me. The stripped back sound just didn't suit them.
|
| |
I will defend both Ascendancy and Shogun against all detractors. [2]
|
| |
except that they aren't that good of albums =)
|
| |
didnt they have the dude from disturbed produce one of their albums? lol
|
| |
Heafy needs to stop singing
|
| |
First one was a blast. This is big disappointment.
|
| |
I didn't mind their early years but this is just dull
|
| |
Man, what happened? Trivium were never very exceptional, but they used to write some decent metal songs. I guess they just can't write in any other genre without sounding so sterile.
|
| |
fuck the haters, this is good
|
| |
I wonder when they'll make a news article about the new Black Dahlia Murder and the preview track...
spoiler: it's not very good
|
| |
lol toon
|
| |
Don't worry toonberg, I'm sure I'm not the only one still looking forward to this.
|
| |
Shogun had it's moments? It was like an hour long wank fest.
|
| |
lol aite
|
| |
man you niggas are hard to please.
decent song. it's their single - meant to be accessible. don't look to deep into it. the sin and the sentence was a much better song, yes, but this had its moments.
|
| |
Unbelievably bland single. Will pass on this record.
|
| |
david draiman ruined whatever good this band had left
|
| |
First song was promising. Not great, but had some good moments. This was quite boring.
|
| |
Really bland. So much copy paste.
|
| |
Might be the worst song they've ever recorded
|
| |
boo
|
| |
Yeah this is some lame and lazy stuff. If the rest of the album is more like that last single I'll probably like it, but this is garbage.
|
| |
"decent song. it's their single - meant to be accessible."
Miss the days when singles were usually the coolest, best songs on the album. Now you're right- singles are the songs that are most widely accessible to the masses (in other words, terrible).
|
| |
"Might be the worst song they've ever recorded"
they've done worse. try "the rising" or "pull me from the void".
|
| |
Ugh. The first song was promising but this is just... I don't know, bland? Like completely safe and boring song structure. Lots of empty space where it's literally just a chord progression and a typical drum beat, and then a generic tapping riff with some radio rock vocals. Shogun was a fantastic album, but I doubt they'll ever be back to that.
|
| |
That's a shame
|
| |
Shouldn't this album have a "black metal" feel or something like that? First song was ok, almost a return to the "Shogun" days but this is just bland.. not entirely bad, just generic
|
| |
I've never liked this band, even their stuff I'm told is supposed to be good doesn't impress me. It's shocking how these guys have been able to keep up a career for so long. Do their fans just want the same regurgitated shit every album?
|
| |
I love the melody on this but it's a shame no growls are included .
|
| |
"For Trivium its rather bland...Its basically a common rock song that Three Days Grace or Chevelle would put out. Nothing wrong with that genre but I expect more from Trivium"
lmao
|
| |
"Do their fans just want the same regurgitated shit every album?"
Bruh they've been doing the exact opposite, for better but mostly worse.
|
| |
Do their fans just want the same regurgitated shit every album?
If they regurgitated Shogun every album we'd be all set.
they've done worse. try "the rising" or "pull me from the void".
Pull me from the void is dope man, but yeah the rising is eugh.
|
| |
band is an aids-infested tumour upon music
|
| |
Their old stuff at least had a dumb sort of charm to it. Their last 2-3 albums have all been lifeless and boring as fuck. One of the most superfluous bands in the scene.
|
| |
shogun and ascendancy are pretty good intro level metal and still hold up today imo
|
| |
