vocals sound a bit lackluster compared to their earlier material. Everything else is top notch.

band sounds renewed and cohesive. i loved celestite, and the cool ambient influence is still present, but this is a new, renewed beast. really hyped on this

Their new guitarist apparently got songwriting privileges so I'm guessing that obvious second-wave section was dping. It's nice to see Wolves mix it up a little.

Pretty good. I feel like it almost achieves this very grand atmosphere, but never quite gets there. The ending riff is a nice throw-back to early punk-y first-wave BM, so that was cool I guess.

can you point me to bm vocals that sound fat and gutful? these vocals sound pretty standard to me

srs question, btw

I guess Behemoth, Marduk, Rotting Christ, Hate Forest, M8l8th etc. It's def not the norm but there's a couple.

I don't like how it seems like there's only one guitar going during that old school riff section, though. Coulda used a lead in there to give the rhythm section more oomph.

(referring to the full version here)

i'm certainly happy they're back to black metal but at the same time i think varying influences they pull from seem a bit too starkly implemented. going from a second wave riff to so suddenly cutting away to angelic female vocals is jarring. i'm kind of finding a lot of these riffs a bit stale and bland, too. the opener to 'celestial lineage' was a lot stronger. but then, a good deal of the rest of the album didn't live up to that track. perhaps this will work better. pre-ordered. one can hope. @Balls it's their first video
@Dark I like the ethereal break. Jarring is sometimes good in a genre that tends to become background noise when nothing unexpected happens.

i don't really see black metal like that, so i don't agree with you

also i don't like the drum sound which is really distracting me, it sounds rather dull and clinical, it doesn't suit the rest of the sound at all

I liked the ethereal break, but it could have had a nicer transition. Female vox worked well at the end of the song.

every time I listen I get more into it. the music video edit in particular is more dynamic and varied than their usual sound since everything's condensed but in both there's a really grand, fantastic atmosphere that i've missed so so much

the whole thing has a kind of tinny sound like on Ash Borer's Cold of Ages, but not as pronounced (thankfully).

yeah the transitions are kinda shoehorned together, I'll give you that. from the ethereal break onward they got it all right.

Sounds super uninspired. I wish they did more of the ambient stuff rather than the run-of-mill bm. Their atmosphere is completely lost.

I'll take run-of-mill bm over ambient all day if this is run-of-the-mill.

Not super impressed with the track, but still very hyped for the album.
