preeeeetty bad
| |
alone. like birds. oh well the teaser showed some more dynamic stuff I get why this would be the soft number. funny releasing this as the first single when everyone is worried about them going flaccid.
| |
It's alright and not as bad as I thought it would be. Doesn't come close to being as good as anything on No Place sadly.
| |
"If I count to 10 WILL IT ALL GO AWAY?!"
| |
This is okay.
| |
Agreed. It's pretty decent. It's definitely stripped though.
| |
I don't like it as a song, but as a tribute to the guys mother it's really touching
| |
I like it.
| |
I like it. Looking forward to hearing the whole album
| |
eh, it's alright, these guys can do way better though.
| |
That was... something
| |
This is nowhere near engaging for me especially when compared to their past 3 albums. My interest in these guys is pretty much gone now.
| |
kinda a bore. Nothing compared to No Place
| |
If the whole album is like this then it's gonna be a total snooze fest. If that isn't the case, it seems like this was the worst possible single they could have dropped.
| |
I was waiting for the hook to blow me away. It didn't. Very underwhelming.
| |
nope, not liking this at all. and why does this sound so much like I see stars
| |
Well they fucked it up. Connector shits all over this. The drummer is so wasted in this.
| |
That was rather boring
| |
While different sounding I dont get why people arent liking it? The guitar is doing some really colorful stuff without going overboard and the vocals are really nicely tinged with some raw emotion without being too poppy. Its a nice tribute and really nice song. However my biggest problem with it is that I really think Kurts vocals would have made this a million times better. The melodies were like they were made for Kurt specifically to croon over. All in all good stuff though i will be dissappointed if the whole thing is this over and over
| |
I don't hate it, but its a let down for what I was hoping for. I figured they were going with a more melodic sound but this was just boring. Can't think of any part of this song that would make me want to return to it. Still will hope for something more since No Place was one of my favorites
| |
Contextually the song is fitting and quite touching. If the whole record sounds like this though, it's going to be a huge disappointment.
| |
So yeah guess this band is dead
| |
i'm still optimistic about the album. corey's actually a pretty good singer and so is the other guy. definitely see why kurt left tho.
| |
So, alone. Like Birds it is then. I wanted to be optimistic, but I guess I knew it was coming. Maybe I'll at least get some good Kurt Travis related music later this year.
| |
A pretty touching tribute. Kinda makes it hard to hate it;
/but if this is the new sound they're going towards, I'm extremely disappointed.
Regardless on how "heavy" they might have been, they had (first and foremost) a complex nature about them. The instruments in this new song have the exact same lack of creativity every pop-rock band on the radio has had for the past 3-4 years.. there's zero depth to this.
| |
this owns
| |
why would you release a tribute song as a single??
| |
Kurt was smart to get out of this band when he did
| |
"why would you release a tribute song as a single??"
I personally think it's them being manipulative. Every one on facebook is gushing about how amazing and beautiful it is and anyone who says otherwise is getting shit on for it because of the personal subject matter. Part of me feels they did this on purpose because anyone who dislikes it is now just an asshole.
| |
P cynical way to look at it, reading Cory's Facebook post it's hard for me to think of any reason other than he just genuinely did this beautiful thing and wanted to share it. Song has a killer chorus
| |
I find it hard to believe that they thought this would make a good first single. Kurt left the band and they completely altered their style and *this* is the song they chose to introduce people to their new sound? Doubtful. That said, I did enjoy and feel for Cory after reading the facebook post but that doesn't make the song any better than what it is; alone. but slightly less horrible.
| |
yeah this is pretty bland
| |
Never got into this band.
| |
This sounds like Goodness in the sense that it's a talented band playing with so much "restraint" in order to sound more "natural" that it sounds forced and unnatural.
| |
damn this is bad
respect for Kurt increases
| |
This is a great song on it's own
This is a great song given the context for Cory
This definitely isn't an A Lot Like Birds song though
| |
Kurt was right, happy that he left and already has two projects lined up with the possibility of at least one more.
| |
super lame...sounds neutered
| |
Way to turn one of the most interesting bands in their respective genre in to a pile of shit. Round of applause.
| |
"alone. Like Birds" jesus if i see this phrase again imma shoot myself lol
I really like the song and some of the lyrics are pretty tops as well. However if the whole album is just this on repeat that'll be pretty bland eh. But I highly doubt that it will be that monotonous. (of course I've been bingeing random pop-punk albums so like of course this is gonna sound interesting comparatively)
| |
Like ten years ago my old band used to play with Corey's old band Discovery of a Lifelong Error and they were the shit. I don't really like anything from this band and I wish discovery would just get back together.
| |
This is definitely underwhelming but I have moderate faith in them. And this is bound to be slightly disappointing because I believe no place is one of the best albums of this decade. Hoping the rest of the album will be different because based on no place Kurt was what was holding this band back from making a truly classic album
| |
widows, this shit is rad. didn't know this existed
| |
a disgrace for birbdome
| |
This is bad.
| |
Cats
| |
"Kurt was what was holding this band back from making a truly classic album "
wat
| |
Kurt's vocals are annoying
| |
widowslaugh123 discovery of a lifelong error are fucking sick thanks for mentioning them wouldn't have found them otherwise
| |
Yeah treos they're dope. They were so wild live too. Used to give me chills seeing them live. Cory had one of the best screams ever it sounded like he was getting stabbed or something.
| |
I mean this is obviously no Connector but I actually enjoyed it a lot
| |
I'll give the song a jam later, but this band, Dance Gavin Dance, and the whole "swancore" movement have some of the most annoying fans on the fucking planet.
| |
It feels like FIR fans would be way more annoying
| |
FiR fans are so scattered that there's not really a united fanbase to be annoyed at. I can't go a damn day without seeing some stupid DGD Jonny vs Kurt vs whoever debate by someone on my damn news feed.
| |
"I'll give the song a jam later, but this band, Dance Gavin Dance, and the whole "swancore" movement have some of the most annoying fans on the fucking planet."
lmao as a huge dgd fan that knows nothing about something referring to swancore, what are you even on about
| |
"lmao as a huge dgd fan"
I'm in a shitload of music groups, and most huge DGD fans are in a group called DGD swanposting. Swancore / Swanposting is a very popular meme among fanbases of groups like this. Just look it up on Facebook you'll find it pretty quickly.
| |
people who are in fb groups are fags anyways and don't count as people,, let alone fans of a band
| |
Several DGD members and past DGD members are in these groups, including Tillian, Kurt, and several others.
| |
your point being what
| |
" I can't go a damn day without seeing some stupid DGD Jonny vs Kurt vs whoever debate by someone on my damn news feed."
Oh my god I feel fatigued just reading that lol. Fucking hate that argument. So much.
| |
forgot this band
| |
I ended up liking this more than I expected to
| |
The 2nd song wasn't very exciting. It had a cool concept but the lack of screams are really going to kill this band
| |
The second single isn't good either. I am sad.
| |
Both of the singles suck. They honestly lack any passion.
| |
The lack of screams isn't even the main problem. The problem is the instrumental work being dumbed down into generic shit.
| |
The first song I was at least like "damn, there is clearly some emotion in this". this new one has nothing going for it.
| |
The new single was absolutely lifeless. Joey Arrington needs to get out. He is way too talented for this drivel.
| |
I really hope the new album isn't like these two singles.
| |
I'm feeling it will be.
| |
It's looking more and more likely that Kurt got out at the right time
| |
love the intro of the new single... the vocals do not sit well over top of it
| |
