Zack de la Rocha's new single

2016-09-08 by DatsNotDaMetulz | 54 Comments
While his bandmates from Rage Against the Machine have been touring America as Prophets of Rage, Zack de la Rocha has been quietly working on new solo and One Day as a Lion material. Today he released his debut official solo single, entitled "Digging For Windows". The track was produced by Run the Jewels' El-P and is available for free download via BitTorrent.

I think it's decent. A bit of a grower, but decent.

It's nice and I think live it's going to sound awesome. Needs more real instruments, but oc I didn't expect the new RATM. Song kills, bring the rest.

Maybe it'll be that album he's been working on for fuck knows how long with songs produced by El-P, Trent Reznor etc.

Track's really great. How cool would it be if his solo album, and RTJ3 dropped around the same time?

Id rather RTJ3 didn't drop at all honestly.

To be fair i wasn't necessarily referring to his performance, more that the stuff he's been involved with post rage is pretty passable.

They've all been doing their own things and they've generally been OK I guess but RATM proves that the band as a whole, when together, exceeds the sum of its parts. Tim's been doing Wakrat and that's been kinda mixed, Tom's solo stuff and collabs have been meh, Brad's session work has been good on the whole and Zack's solo stuff seems to be OK but not as good as RATM. Prophets of Rage also shows that an incomplete group isn't enough.
