Sweet! I've been looking forward to this.
| |
will have to check this out later
| |
Definitely interesting and better than I thought it would be. Still, the first two tracks are a little boring.
| |
You rule zaruyache
| |
shweet
| |
Yeah it's more ambient this time around.
| |
wholly ambient
| |
This is interesting. I might have to take a swing at reviewing this at some point.
| |
looking like a 3 right now
| |
i like the first and last tracks but the tracks in the middle lose me a bit
| |
Didn't realize this project consisted of just two brothers. Very cool.
| |
This is nice so far. Though somewhat unremarkable at the same time.
| |
Last two tracks are quite an interesting listening experience, but there definitely is a sense of desiring more...
| |
It's very listenable, but it's just going nowhere. It's safe to say that Alcest pulled off dropping the black metal part better this year haha. Will finish this tomorrow.
| |
I think I have heard this band. Spencer Chamberlain's little brother is the drummer or something I think? I'll check this out they showed a lot of promise with songs in the past.
| |
Oh gosh I must be thinking of the wrong band.
| |
yes
| |
Well I like it
| |
Cool, there's nothing particularly "bad" about it, but I really can't find anything good to say about this at the same time you know?
| |
I get you. It's ambient music and it's all... ambient-y and melodic and tranquil and noisy and drony and pensive and emotional, but it doesn't really do anything. Like a post-rock song with no climax.
| |
I don't mind them experimenting with new sounds but if I go to the show later this month and it's all ambient I'm gonna be mad.
| |
meh it's ok I suppose
| |
What do people expect ambient to do exactly?
| |
good ambient, thats all
| |
Wish Varg could take a note from these guys. Does anyone have a leak?

But why must ambient music have a climax in order for it to be good listening? Sustaining a mood/ feel is really what makes ambient music so great in the first place.
| |
It doesn't have to have a climax and I get it's ambient music. It's just that it's so monotonous and doesn't really go anywhere.
| |
Some people love explosive guitar solos with their ambient. Some people like their ambient music ambient.
| |
gotta hear this later today!
| |
Wiz knows
| |
mongi listen to more drone and ambient and less deftones
| |
Ok I'll do that just for you
| |

I don't care that you find this monotonous but the fact you're siding with ambient music needing a climax basically tells me you need to get going with discovering more ambient music. I'm fairly new to the genre but by damn, I've explored enough in the past few years to know that the best ambient pieces are more elongated mood pieces than anything else. Climaxes are mostly saved for the bedroom nowdays ; ).
| |
This might be better than Colored Sands, no dweedle in sight!
| |
poke the wizard with the stick and he'll summon the wolfe on you so watch it boi
| |
I'll summon the koala and alien dude, so you better watch yourself
| |

Yep, you can't approach ambient the same way you do post-rock
| |
lots of unfair expectations itt
| |
deal with it B)
| |
Guys when I say "goes anywhere," I mean it's not interesting to me. I never said it needed a climax. If you guys wanna rec ambient music to me so I could hear more I'm all ears.
| |
rulez as expected
| |
Mongi, some of my favorites are Stars of the Lid, A Winged Victory For the Sullen and Tim Hecker.
| |
Thanks man, I guess I should try stars then.
| |
yea stars is essential
| |
Climax is a bad word for what I meant. This kind of music needs to be engaging and grip you, not just create interesting noises. It needs to go somewhere. There's nothing that exciting here, even though they did create some cool atmospheres.
| |
What if creating the cool atmosphere is the point. From there, it's up to you where you want it to take you.
| |
You know this is better than what I was originally expecting. Granted I'm not too fond of the second track but I'm getting used to the rest. At least the guitar parts are cool.
| |
the atmosphere doesn't really take me anywhere significant, though, sooooo.... :3
| |
@Azazzel it says on their site that they've been rehearsing material for their upcoming tour that even includes some stuff off Diadem. That should be pretty exciting. Wish I could see them.
I've liked everything I've heard off the new album so far so I'm pumped.
| |
as someone who has never listened to this band before and hates black metal
that song does rule
| |
Dynamic is like Batman right
| |
This is nice. But I hope they pick up their guitars at the show I'm going to this month.
| |
yes cuz that was also gud
| |
yea the beats improved furshure
| |
I wouldn't mind if they incorporated this drony guitar feedback ambient into a more black metal-oriented sound for their next album. Bring on the bleep bloop blast beats of cosmic dick m/
| |
anyone have a rip?

Guys when I say "goes anywhere," I mean it's not interesting to me.
You're still approaching it wrong.
| |
Wizard knows.
| |
It's basically the same as me going into indie rock (which I know nothing about) and saying that I don't like a certain band because they don't hipster/ fag enough.
| |
Karl, you subtle motherfucker you
| |
Brandon, you awesome motherfucker you
