Glass Cloud Drummer, Bassist Leave

2014-06-19 by TheGreatQ | 28 Comments
Just under a month before setting out on tour with Scale The Summit, it has been announced that the bassist and drummer of Glass Cloud will be leaving the band to focus on a new musical project and
"other artistic interests." The split is amicable, and the remaining members of Glass Cloud have stated that the two are welcome to join in on future Glass Cloud projects. For the tour, they have
been in contact with unspecified "very talented friends" to fill out the live band. For more information, including the band's official statement, follow the link below.

Hopefully this will help them make good tunes again. Hope they use SEA members to fill in.

Bummer. The drummer in this band was stellar.

Both were Berklee alumni.

As far as I'm concerned, "Very talented friends" will probably mean 2 more graduates from the very same degree.

I thought it was the drummer and guitarist who were berklee alumni?

the guitarist is the only one with actual talent in the band even though he doesn't display much of it...

Hopelust, I remember that from reading some press release about them, and I think it read "Guitar player for TDTE, ex-singer for Sky Eats Airplanes and two graduates from Berkley".

And no Cap', not being mean, just quoting the press release haha

The Royal Thousand was a fun little album. That last ep was awful though. I'm a little interested to see how this will affect their sound.

full length was cool. the ep was a miserable piece of work though. so yeah, maybe they'll be good again now.

The EP was pretty lame, but the songs were way better live than The Royal Thousand was. Best of luck to those two dudes though.

I am a longtime TDTE fan and a big fan of The Royal Thousand LP but that EP isn't even relevant to me. I'm hoping that this was change for the better...

Wasn't the bassist the main composer?

Damn, nobody says what the other projects are.

For those who don't know the bassist was actually the main composer next to the guitarist. He wrote all the lyrics, the vocal melodies and etc. He fully wrote two songs on the first album too.

So I'm pretty sure they're probably gonna sound like the ep from now on which sucks honestly. First album showed tons of potential.

I'm waaaay late to this party, but I thought the lp was shitty. The guitar work was cool and the vocals were as bad as the arrangements. But, I'm on the opposite end of most of you. I much prefer the vocals from the ep and thought the guitars were sufficient.
Regardless, I am stoke to see what they come up with next, assuming there will be anything.

Apparently they're playing with Glassjaw, now. If so, they majorly upgraded. More power to them. As much as I like Josh Travis, there's no universe where Glassjaw doesn't shit all over this band.

I thought the Rhythm section was one of the best parts about the Royal Thousand. Glass cloud are awful without them and it's cool to know they will be a part of Glassjaw. I wonder if they are gonna be apart of the writing/recording process on the new album.
