New Suicide Silence Detailed

2014-04-30 by betray | 69 Comments
California deathcore outfit Suicide Silence has released details regarding the band's
first new studio production since the death of former vocalist Mitch Lucker.

Due out July 15th via Nuclear Blast, the new full-length album entitled "You Can't Stop
Me" takes it's name from the last set of found lyrics written by the late frontman.

The album is produced by Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan) and will feature guest vocals
appearances by George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher of Cannibal Corpse and The Dillinger Escape
Plan vocalist Greg Puciato.

Eddie Hermida (formerly of All Shall Perish) is now the current vocalist of Suicide
Silence.

The tracklist for "You Can't Stop Me" is as follows:
1 – “M.A.L.“
2 – “Inherit The Crown“
3 – “Cease To Exist“
4 – “Sacred Words“
5 – “Control” (feat. George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher)
6 – “Warrior“
7 – “You Can’t Stop Me“
8 – “Monster Within” (feat. Greg Puciato)
9 – “We Have All Had Enough“
10 – “Ending Is The Beginning“
11 – “Don’t Die“
12 – “Ouroboros“

The Special Edition of the album will include two bonus tracks: “Blue Haze“ and “Last
Breath” (Hatebreed cover) in addition to a DVD of studio and tour footage.

The album's cover artwork can be found here.

I'm really only interested in this because of Eddie, otherwise I really dislike this band.

I do kind of think that if Greg and Fisher are doing guest spots that maybe this is better than their old material because why would those two guys guest spot on a record they thought was shit? Especially Greg, who is notorious for his opinions

Because this band has a god-awful track record, and no major changes have been made to the band that would imply any significant changes in songwriting style? Having a different guy's screams over the same CHUGGA CHUGGA JUN JUN JUN riffs won't make the music any less horrible. Show me the demo where they demonstrate some actual songwriting ability, and then we'll talk about optimism.

Now that they lost the scene-looking poster boy that brought in a large amount of their fan base and replaced him with a Hispanic deathcore veteran, they are going to need to market themselves to male metal heads. Hoping this brings the junz.

"market themselves to male metal heads"
Shows you how dumb "metal heads" are.
They can't get past the fact that Mitch was a scene kid. Even if
the new album sounds exactly the same as previous ones they will applaud it and love it bc Eddie has
more metal cred apparently.
Both are great vocalists and metal heads should have liked this band from the start instead of waiting
until it's cool to like them.

I liked the groove oriented sound they had on The Black Crown. Would like to see them continue down that road and slowly transition to groove metal or melodeath or something than stick to deathcore which was a poor genre to begin with.

Same deathcore, different vocalist. Their listener base won't suffer at all. If anything, the other scene kids that liked All Shall Perish might start listening to this band because of the new vocalist.

Band sucked with Luker and it'll suck with whoever they have fronting it. The older fans that know a thing or two about death metal will continue to boo this band and others like it. Teens will eat it up, as they have in the past. And so life goes on.

zaruyache sounds like u know a thing or two about real metal.
Metal fans are so concerned about being troo and it annoys me. I know more than enough metal fans that secretly (read ironically) love SS but don't want to be scene liking a band with scene ties (I'm funny). And I will bet huge amount of money they will "come out" and admit this current incarnation with eddie is great and a whole new chapter.
I happen to think SS never tried to be death metal (hot scene chicks>weird metal dudes) but certainly wore the influence in their sleeve along with their Hardcore roots. They are just one of those bands it's cool to hate. I enjoyed No Time To Bleed and got to see them live but who cares if they are "real metal"? Some of their stuff goes hard as fuck.

Some of their stuff goes hard as fuck.

Anything can be "hard" if you downtune and palm mute or JUNZ enough. Doesn't mean it's GOOD. There
probably will be a lot of people that "come out" because of the new vocalist, as I said before. The
rest of the people that aren't so easily bought out by familiar faces will turn up their noses at the
horrible songwriting just as before.

Liek omg guyz listen to that TONE is so thick so heavy omgg riffs hear that JUNZ so brutal!!!!1

Ugh where's Seth Putnam when you need him. RIP

There are many bands that don't tune to A# and below that go hard too. Tuning has nothing to do with it. It's the way the riffs and songs are written that makes it heavy.
I'm not saying all of SS material is great, there is some boring crap there but some of it is great it's not as bad as people say. They aren't my favourite band but they have risen to the top of the shit pile that is deathcore.
For example, Wake Up is a good example.

Diamondize
May 1st 2014

SS is pretty low-tier deathcore.

zaruyache
May 1st 2014
17903 Comments

The "top" of the pile would probably be things like Animosity, BoO, Red Chord, Despised Icon, Glass
Casket, The Contortionist, and All Shall Perish.

Wake Up is like a 2.5 which I guess is pretty good, relatively speaking. Chorus is pointless, though.

Despised Icon and Red Chord are sweet so I'll give you those. Many of the others sound like they are actually trying to be
"metal" by throwing some techy bits in there for lols. SS sounds like a hardcore band influenced by some death metal.
All shall perish are others are good with their instruments no doubt.
Arguing about deathcore and djent is a sputnik favourite and I'm adding to the problem so let's agree to disagree.

I don't mind deathcore when it sounds like average death metal with lots of breakdowns, but I hate bands that are literally nothing BUT breakdowns, and I don't like bands that are just random techy riffs strung together by breakdowns (within the ruins)
